Ruling rainbow energy question

Hi, well.. if I attach a Rainbow E. to Mawile, and the Energy that provides the rainbow is a Steel energy.. the opponent pokémon hit me -10 dmg??..
 
no, it specifically tells us that it provides only Energy, not reduce damage, increase damaeg whatsoever...so no damage decrease...

That's just trying to confuse him now...

All you need to know is that the only Metal energy that reduces 10 damage is the special energy card of Metal energy. Which means that cards like Rainbow/Multi/Scramble/Double Rainbow energy/Holon's Castform-Magneton-Electrode/Delta Rainbow do NOT reduce the damage. Those cards only provide the energy, not give any additional effects.
 
no because the card itself doesn't say it, you must have an actual metal to get the -10
