Rapidash like Mewtwo X?

I was just searching through the Arceus japanese translations, and I noticed this card,

Rapidash LV.41 - Fire - HP80
Stage 1 - Evolves from Ponyta

Poke-Body: Wild Protection
Prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to this Pokemon by your opponent’s SP-Pokemon.

[R] Fire Mane: 20 damage.
[R][C][C] Toss Up: 50 damage. Flip a coin, if heads this attack does an additional 20 damage.

Weakness: Water (+20)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1 (It's actually 0, mistype I guess)

Obviously you wouldn't ATTACK with it, but look at its body. Sound like anyone you know? Except, you see, this one isn't an X. It's not shot at by Flygon X, it doesn't have to be active to evolve, AND it has free retreat... Do you think this could become the new big SP-Counter? when it's released? Not to mention look at the normal Ponyta,

Ponyta LV.8 - Fire - HP40
Basic Pokemon

[C] Ascension: Search your deck for an Evolution card that Evolves from Ponyta and play it on top of Ponyta to Evolve it. Shuffle your deck afterward.
[R][C] Flare: 20 damage.

Weakness: Water (+10)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Notice it's first attack? If, say, you ever start with it and go first. You could attach an energy and instantly find Rapidash. Boom, you don't have to worry about anyone K.O.ing you. As almost NOTHING can do 80 damage on their first turn. Sure some things can, but not much.

So, as the title asks. Is Rapidash the new Mewtwo X?

RE: Rapidash the new Mewtwo X?

Rampardos could beat it (ie 80 T2). But seems solid otherwise!
Not too great, I mean I'd probably play Mewtwo over this just cause I dislike fire :p and cause Mewtwo pumps out 120 while this only does a max of 70.

RE: Rapidash the new Mewtwo X?

Possibly. He's a good card, though some SP decks may run stuff that can take it out anyway like Mewtwo Lv X, Uxie Lv X, Ninetales, or Bannete.

I do like how you can get him out T1 though and he is a Stage 1 and not a Lv X, which In my opinion makes him worth running in a lot of decks instead of Mewtwo. I like the free retreat too.

Also, Flygon could easily one-shot this guy with Power-swing anyway.

Edit: Could work as an SP counter in Charizard.

RE: Rapidash the new Mewtwo X?

Mewtwo is not replaced by this at all. SP decks often have other basic pokemon like Uxie X that el oh el at the SP protection. It also can't exactly attack its opponent very well or self heal. It is completely outclassed.

RE: Rapidash the new Mewtwo X?

I see this as being much better than Mewtwo Lv X for one big reason. Dialga can't exactly "shut it down." I mean, it caqn when it levels up, but you can go toss up for 50, maybe drop a crobat or pluspowers, and one shot it, something mewtwo can't do as well, and mewtwo takes longer to get out, so it has to wait a turn to be benched, and can be crobat/poketurned to 'ell and then get one shotted by luxray after 2 bats

Mewtwo and Rapidash both get their body turned off by Dialga G. They both do 100 to Dialga G (if it is even active and has not retreated), unless Rapidash flips heads. The difference is Dialga G can in return one shot Rapidash in the process with Remove Lost. :p

At Least Mewtwo has 90 HP when not leveled up.

RE: Rapidash the new Mewtwo X?

they can, but its easier to swarm rapidash, so its generally not a problem

RE: Rapidash the new Mewtwo X?

I play Dialga G X and get it on my bench, El Oh El.

Seriously, this Rapidash...the idea is cute but its just too weak to really do anything. If it were to have better attacks then you could see it, now though Uxie X can Zen Blade it and then finish it with a Psychic Restore, while Rapidash fails to OHKO in return. Not good.

In order to get around Mewtwo X, SP's need either a Stage 1 tech OR Dialga G X. In order to get around Rapidash, SP only need a non-SP card.

RE: Rapidash the new Mewtwo X?

Well, maybe this will just become another Volkner's. I mean, Volkners is basically Claydol, and this is BASICALLY Mewtwo X. But, I definitely see where a few of you are coming from. :/

RE: Rapidash the new Mewtwo X?

Its a decent card. It reminds me of Ninetails from the old EX series. The one that is shielded from ALL EX pokemon.

The problem with this card is, while it may be a decent SP counter, when Arceus comes out, everyone will be using either Gyarados, Gengar, or Salamence, Flygon. None of those decks are SP.

Don't forget Palkia Lock... Very good deck, trust me. ;D

RE: Rapidash the new Mewtwo X?

The thing is that Mewtwo can actually attack non-SP decks. Notablty, Mewtwo's basic has a higher HP than Rapidash. Also, most decks aren't fire, but a good amount are running Psychic already, which makes Mewtwo more techable. I'd rather use the one that can attack. ;p

Same here about the attacking thing, I was just wondering if Rapidash would be playable enough to actually consider it as a "Mewtwo X". I guess the title and original post is rather misleading in the fact that it says "The new"... Which sounds like, "the better". xP

mewtwo X>>>>>>>>>> this. almost every SP deck runs uxie, and the ones that run uxie usually run uxie X. you can just use psychic restore+crobat drops to kill this thing while against mewtwo you couldn't. uxie X just plain laughs in it's face.

It's definitely a new SP counter, but Mewtwo is miles ahead of this. More HP and good attacks make Mewtwo over this any day.

dmaster out.
