Rare Candies + Baby Pokemon Question

Could I rare candy, say, an Azurill into an Azumarill? The only way to evolve Azurill into Maril is through Poke'Power and not through normal evolution, so would it also be unable to be candy'd to Azumarill?
 
I'm not quite sure on that. If you post the question on Pokegym someone may be able to answer it.
 
Nononono. Look at the baby pokemon. On the card on the left there is text that says basic, baby pokemon are both basics and baby pokemon, in such ways that you can search for them with dual balls as well as mentors. Therefore the rare candy says place a stage 1 or stage 2 pokemon on top of a basic, therefore you can evolve Azurill(Basic) into Azumarill(Stage 1).

The problem with that logic is that you could say "Mawile" could evovle into "Dugtrio" because it is a Stage 1 as well. =/

That makes no sense. Venesaur does not say evolves from Bulbasaur either. It says it evolves from ivysaur, but you can candy a bulbasaur into a venesaur.

I think it meant to be an evolution "chain" where the "evolves from" are linked together.

You mean because Pikachu doesn't say evolves from Pichu and it doesn't normally evolve, only via baby evolution?

Exactly.

Although, I would question whould that include the Neo babies? Because they have on the card that they evolve INTO their respective basic so they don't need the power to evolve. I wonder if the ruling covers that...
