Ruling rare candy

This one has been stumping me for a very long time.

With the rare candy it says choose one of your basics and put either a stage or two that evolves from it. So for example Mudkip to Marshtomp. You can do but technically you cant go Mudkip to Swampert as Swampert evolves from Marshtomp not Mudkip? Could someone help me please.

Yes, you can because it blantantly states STAGE 2 on the card. It's a stage 1 bypasser, though I can't explain it very clearly.

As Sastoon said earlier, choose a 'BASIC' pokemon on the field. What if you want to quickly evolve into the next evolution from a stage 1. Is that possible? I have heard the Rare candy is not part of evolving any pokemon once per turn.

RC lets You to Choose a Basic. so no.

Why do you wanna Evolve Bsic > Stage 1 > Stage 2 if you can Basic > Stage 2?? =}

Because of ATM rock. Its now been rotated out, but it will be very powerful in unlimited tourneys.

Yes, you are allowed to Rare Candy into a Stage 1. It is stated quite clearly on the card that you can.

Reasons you might want to do this:

- Can't get the appropriate stage 2 when you want it
- Don't want to fully evolve right away because of Energy concerns or whatever
- The Stage 1 form is helpful to your deck (LM Sealeo for example)
- Fear of Espeon ex
