Regarding 1st Edition Base Booster Box

Hey all I was just wondering about said box, and had a few questions regarding it.

1. Does anyone know how to tell if a 1st Edition Base Booster Box is fake or legit? Most of the shadowless and 1st edition boxes don't have the Wizards logo on the shrink wrap, so is there any other signs on the box to see if it's real?

2. There seems to be a lot of debate over the value of said box, and I was curious as what its value would be in todays market. There aren't any 1st Edition Base Booster Boxes on eBay so that's out as a method of research. In the past I've known collectors to bid upwards of $1000+ for a sealed box, so I'm not sure of its value.

3. Fun question, if you had the opportunity to own one of these, would you open the packs or keep it sealed?

Thanks guys! =D

i dont know about the first 2 questions, but i would never open it, it could be worth tons of money later on

1.) I've heard something about the Charizard's wing being certain colors that signifies if it's a shadowless or 1st ed, but nothing about the box being legit or not.

3.) I'd open the packs personally, then sleeves asap, then PSA grade the holos xD

I'd open half the box, or until I get at least one of each holo. I'm pretty sure it's not $1000 dollars for a box. I'm not doubting you that you saw that, I'm just saying that was probably just a rip-off or they value cards too much. xD

^1st base set boxes are super rare and super-expensive.

Yeah the Charizard wing tells if it's shadowless or not. It should have a "1st ED." symbol on it, though.

Fake boxes don't have the Wizards shrinkwarp on them.

I would open it, sleeve, PSA.

1st edition booster boxes didn't have logo shrink wrap on them.
I don't think the logo wrap didn't appear until the 3rd printing (1st edition, shadowless, then 3rd printing) of base set.

Anyways, I would be very scared to purchase said box on the internet.
Too much risk getting ripped off.

If I did buy one, I would have to open it.

Yup definitely would be torn between opening it and having the cards graded, or keeping it sealed and having its value continue to rise.

But yes the logo from Wizards never appeared on the 1st Edition boxes, and apparently after doing some more research, all 1st Edition printings were shadowless. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Would be great to get one and maybe just look at it.

All 1st edition cards are shadowless...almost...Machamp was printed as the only shadow 1st edition card.

I think I found one. The seller has 100% feedback.

It looks pretty real...

So I've come across an auction on eBay for just 1 singular pack from the 1st Edition Base Set print.

Apparently, it's going for $100 at the time that I found it, perhaps it will go even higher? I'm not sure if it's even worth this much.
