I apologize for this ridiculously long post in advance, but I seek (Stellar) Guidance in my deck. Let me explain my deck and reasoning for cards.

Okay, so I was wondering what you guys might think of my deck list for this deck, I am planning on entering a league challenge October 17th with it, and I was hoping for some suggestion before hand, I built off of Rodolfo Falcon's list who got top 8 in Houston regionals. I took out some cards that I found were either useless or unnecessary. Here's the list:

Pokémon - 20
  • 2 Miltank FLF 83
  • 2 Shaymin-EX ROS 77
  • 2 Swirlix PHF 68
  • 2 Slurpuff PHF 69
  • 3 Oddish AOR 1
  • 3 Gloom AOR 2
  • 2 Vileplume AOR 3
  • 4 Regice AOR 24
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums - 29
  • 4 Trainers' Mail
  • 3 Shauna
  • 2 Lysandre
  • 4 Ultra Ball
  • 4 Forest of Giant Plants
  • 3 Level Ball
  • 1 VS Seeker
  • 3 AZ
  • 4 Professor Sycamore
  • 1 Cilan
Energy - 11
  • 4 Double Colorless Energy
  • 7 Water Energy
Strategy:

So I've taken out a few things obviously, with the Pokemon lineup I removed a Vileplume and added a 2-2 Slurpuff line to grab cards which is a huge help when searching for cards believe it or not, and over time you're basically holding about 20 or more cards and you have everything you need late game. I decided that extra Vileplume wasn't necessary because even if one or two are prized you still have that chance of getting the one you need off an Ultra ball and the opponent has a hard time knocking it out seeing as it's the bulkiest Pokemon in the deck and it's kind of a pain to knock out when you need to draw into a Lysandre to bring it up when it can easily just be AZ'd up if they don't knock it out.

Now onto the trainers, I've opted to play Shauna over birch because I like Shauna more as a character, and because I don't want that chance of getting a tails with birch (Yeah, I'm aware birch is 5.5 and Shauna is 5) I've also added a Lysandre because I've hit many EX Pokemon twice and they retreat to the bench, it's a pain in the ass not to have a Lysandre in that case. I took out an AZ, it tends to clog up your hand early game, but I'm not sure if 3 AZ is a smart thing to do, I may add it back in. Now I run one Cilan in here because I was having problem with energy draw support and it can be a pretty big help when you're attacking with one Regice and want to power another on the bench.

In the energy lineup I added one more water energy because I tend to miss an energy drop for multiple turns and it seemed to fix that problem (that was also the reason I added Cilan)

Now, things are pretty consistent and I can get Vileplume out turn one a good 95% of the time (5% of the time is when I'm on ptcgo and I get these hands with like 3 AZ, 2 Slurpuff, and 2 DCE with Shaymin active), but I was thinking of re-adding Muscle bands to ohko 90 hp Pokemon even though the it's hard to use AZ and then play them because you need both in your hand at once and that's only been possible with me either late game when Slurpuff has me in a hand with a ton of cards when it doesn't matter or early game when I can't play another supporter because I've played a Sycamore already to help get out Vileplume. Or even re-add the team flare grunt both because it's fun to play and it can help in mirror matches or against Giratina or even Rayquaza.

So let me know what you guys think, I'm completely open to suggestions.

Well,

I'd have to say Vileplume is a very picky deck to manage at times because of item lock, but here are some ways to get around that.

N: N over Shauna is so much better. You're not only getting a fresh six cards, you could be potentially disrupting your opponent's hand, buying some more time to get the cards you need. Especially late game where if your opponent only has a single prize, you're really making them struggle to get the right cards at that point.

Colress: Another great card to add to your deck, it could potentially net you up to 10 cards in your hand at once, saving you some pain about having to either use an N or throwing cards away.

Jirachi EX: Another potential card for you deck as it searches a supporter card you can use for your turn or the next if you have none in your hand.

Shaymin EX: Also another great Pokémon tech. It allows you to draw up to six cards if your low on cards in your hand, possibly netting you that card to win the game.

Bunnelby: Could help you get back needed cards in to your deck, allowing you to simply search them out and play them if your low on cards.

Suicune: Also a very powerful card to play, it negates Pokémon EX's and make it hard for them to attack, is a great tech next to Regice in expanded.

Raichu: While a stage one, it does hit a variety of Pokémon for weakness, things like Yveltal, Lugia EX (PLS and ROS), and M. Rayquaza suffer tremendously from this card and will most definitely put you at an advantage. A full bench hits for 100 so it's nothing to sneeze at either.

Keldeo EX: Keldeo may prove as a nice little tech for this deck. Since you're using Water Energy, combine it with a Float Stone and now you can simply rotate Pokémon around the board to keep yourself from being knocked out from major threats.

Bouffalant: Bouffalant from Dragons Exalted is an amazing card. Not only does it reduce damage it takes, it deals an additional 60 damage against Pokémon EX's. For three energy it's not a bad addition.

Luiga EX/Mewtwo EX: Both of these are solid cards as well as DCE provides enough to simply start dealing damage. In addition, if your opponent has energy attached it simply increases it's damage output.

As far as deck suggestions, maybe adding 1-2 Professor's Letters may help. You can simply try and add Skyla (though I don't approve of this) to search it out. The other option is to go the latter route and try and find lower energy attackers. Hex Maniac will hurt this deck and potentially Aegislash EX can too. M. Rayquaza isn't affected and Virizion/Genesect decks are easy to manipulate around what you want to play. There's quite a few decks to look out for, but ultimately it's what you're wanting to counter. If you feel like EX's are going to tear through you, I'd suggest using Suicune as it has Safe Guard, just be careful of Silent Lab as it'll negate it. Other than that, it looks good and I hope this helps. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks man, it's a bit of a help to look off of, I have the Shaymin in there for sure, I d0n't run N because there have been far too many cases where I've given my opponent what they needed and so on. Jirachi isn't a bad idea at all, and I was considering bunnelby, but not sure of its viability because while you're getting cards back, you're leaving an opening for EX pokemon to hit. Suicune does almost the same thing Regice's second attack does, but it's an ability that can be shut off sadly, it could be good early game though perhaps. Raichu would be a bit too clunky in the deck I believe, but I do like the idea of Keldeo EX in there, but I have to get the float stone down before Vileplume comes into play. Bouffalant is an interesting idea, but I'd rather hit with Regice and prevent all damage and effects of attacks from EX pokemon. I was also thinking Mewtwo wouldn't be a terrible idea, it'd be nice to try. The professor letters wouldn't work because of Vileplume shutting them off, I think Jirachi may be my best bet to try even with its low hp it can be a bit tough to manage. Love the suggestions, thanks!

I'm having a standard deck with his, but except for Cilian every card is the same.

In my list I use:

Pokemon (20)
- 1 Lugia EX (its just a really big hitter, so very good to have 1 off)
- 2 Miltank
- 2 Shaymin EX
- 2 Swirlix
- 2 Slurpuff
- 3-3-2 Vileplume line
- 3 Regice (i feel that 3 is enough, so exchanged 1 for Lugia, then we have 3 2 energy attackers and 3 1 energy attackers)

Items (12)
- 3 Level Ball (make sure you use as much of possible of these at the beginning, so you can Sycamore away the Oddish and Gloom that you don't need, this is to less draw in dead cards later. Also to get Swirlix on the bench).
- 3 Trainers' Mail (I feel like 4 is to much, these cards are dead cards late game, 3 is more then enough for making a turn 1 Vileplume)
- 4 Ultra Ball
- 1 VS Seeker (just like you I think it comes in handy in all sorts of situations, but preferably I use this card to get my AZ back after picking up Vileplume)
- 1 Muscle Band (I feel like 2 is clunky in the deck, but 1 just balances the chances. You can either attach to Regice or Miltank. Preferably Regice of course. You can also make this card Cillian if you prefer Energy search over 20+ damage).

Supporters (14)
- 4 Sycamore
- 3 Shauna
- 2 Lysandre
- 4 AZ (absolutely necessary to get Vileplume out of the active spot and be able to use items yourself).
- 1 Xerosic / Team Flare Grunt (against Giratina, Mirror Match, Vespiquen, Night March... so many good decks this is good with, I personally go for Xerosic)

Stadium (4)
- 4 Forest of Giant Plants

Energy (10)
- 4 Double Colorless Energy
- 6 Water Energy

With only 3 Regice and 1 Lugia-EX you should have no problem finding energy with the help of supporters, Slurpuff line and maybe your added Cillian.
Its not that bad to miss a energy attachment for your turn, Vileplume decks get lots of turns when both players can't do much. We also have 3 1 Energy attackers to back up Regice when he is not ready yet. I feel like 7 basic water is absolute nice for drawing it more often, but gives a draw back on other supporting cards. I feel like with Team Flare Grunt / Xerosic vs 7th Basic Water, there is no question at all what makes more sure you'll get the victory.

Good luck with the deck and keep me posted when you find improvements. I'll do so as well :)

Go Vileplume!
