Regionals/muffins/money

Hey there. So imma go to regionals. The only thing keeping me is the fact that I need a ride and have no money.
My mom is offering me and my friend a ride, but only if she can get the money together, and that doesn't really seem to be happening. So I'm trying to pay for it just with whatever money I can find, and I've got a jar that says "regionals" and everything but there's only 64 dollars out of the 380 that I need.
So anyways I was wondering how all of you guys make money and how you're gonna manage to get a ride, any suggestions?

oh also I'm fourteen so its kind of illegal for me to get a job.

oh ALSO I was thinking of like buying some muffins in bulk at sam's club and selling them for like 3 dollars each downtown, good Idea? what do you guys think?

...selling muffins? Haha. Thats not a smart idea. Just do chores around your house for petty cash, or for your neighbors. And some places hire at 14. Some movie theaters do.

Legal or not a fourteen year old is very unlikely to be hired on a whim. Muffins... creative, I don't think very many people would buy them for three dollars, a dollar maybe. I like the Craigslist route, maybe you could sell some stuff you don't need, cards, video games, whatever.

Not true. I started working at McDonald's when I was 14. Unless child labor laws aren't like that in your state. It's like that here in Wisconsin though.

I'd say do how I used to make money. Lemonade stands. Also, why would you pay $380 to go to a tourney?

To work at 14, you would need a work release. Restaurants and grocery stores would be the best chance.

No, just NO, muffins? OK, here is what you do:

Step 1: Research to find a job somewhere and go there EVERYDAY after school and almost all day on weekends
Step 2: Be REAAALLLLYYY nice to your parents, maybe they'll pitch in
Step 4: ??
Step 5: Profit!
Step 6: Go to regs
Step 7: Go *Insert record here*
Step 8: Leave regs
Step 9: I don't know why theres a step 9...

He lives far away or his mom is trying to get some extra chores outta him :p
But honestly here's how you do
Do chores.
Get good grades(honestly straight A's for TWO weeks isn't hard)
Suck up to parents(not so that they know it)
Be nice to siblings(if you have any)
Also try to just not spend much money(lunch money=regs money :)

I'm going with other Masters that offered to drive and sleeping at a place for free. Carpooling is a great option IMO.

dmaster out.

As much as you guys want to help, I'm not sure how his mother will react to a bunch of adult males offering to drive her 14-year-old son across states...

Of course you all are respectable individuals but you see my point. Good luck with regionals!

I drove a senior to Nats last year that is on this forum after he obtained parental consent. Some parents are easy to convince while others are harder.

^Yeah, I don't get why you even need the money. Sell excess cards and sell Rayna some drugs.

OMG lol anyways I'm selling my Luxray X and it might be a good thing to mention downtown Santa Fe cause its a huge tourist spot, yards sales are always good and I'm collecting cans they go for like 30 cents a pound though so I have a ways to go

Apache Prime to answer your question, LORDY JONES sucks at math :p

$380 to go to Regionals? If gas is $2.60 a gallon, and your car gets 30 MPG (I'm assuming you don't have a hummer/SUV), you must be going about 2,192.3 miles each way. That's a 36 hour drive. Unless you're going to the Nunavut regionals, you might want to double check your amount.

Yeah, you dont need 380 dollars. A hotel is about $75 dollars a night at a cheap place. A trip from Santa Fe to Denver and back is about 800 miles. Assuming your car gets about 25 mpg and gas is about $3 a gallon, it would only cost you around $175 total. You could just bring food from home. Tada. I just saved you from having to get 200 bucks.

Like everyone is saying, you are going to pay 385 to go regionals? Im considering if paying $100 is worth it for my nationals. Anyway, if you still persist on this journey, you can always mow lawns since its spring and maybe do some paper rounds. I dont know how much you can ear from that :/

I wouldn't get a hotel the night before. If he leaves at 3/4 in the morning and he can get there in time. The night after, however...maybe. I probably wouldn't, but whatever.
