Ruling Relicanth GE Question

Relicanth GE states that for no energy cost I can "Search your (my) deck for up to 3 Trainer cards that have Fossil in their names..." Now, are Fossil Excavators MT considered a trainer card which has fossil in its name? Basically what I am asking is, is a supporter card still technically a trainer card, or is it a separate branch of cards?
 
Since Relicanth is a DP-on card, when it states Trainer, it only means trainer. So, you cannot search for Fossil Excavator because it is a Supporter...
 
It's a interested question, cn I search my deck for a old amber ?
Cause it doesn't have fossil in thei're name but it is a fossil

No. Relicanth clearly states there "Search your deck for up to 3 trainer cards that have Fossil in their names..." Since Old Amber does not have the word "Fossil" in its name, you cannot search for it...
 
Old Amber isn't officially out yet, they might translate it differently.

Holon Fossil seems interesting here.
 
Holon Fossil, is interesting, although I remember reading somewhere in this thread a while back that Fossil Excavator could not search for Holon Fossil. If that's the case then wouldn't one expect the same ruling to hold for Relicanth?
 
yes fossils are trainers and escavator is supporter so it doesnt cont plus why get that when you canget them with the attack????
 
no u can't get a excavator but u can get a holon fossil , mysterious fossil , claw fossil , armor fossil , root fossil and skull fossil. ( its still an amazing attack)
 
i think it only means fossil that can be evolved to a pokemon, but not holon fossil, otherwise, it would be insane

As a redirect on my earlier comment. In a thread posted in questions back in November (sorry I've tried to figure out how to quote it, but if you search on Holon Fossil in this forum you'll see it).

The answer agreed to was Holon Excavator could not search for Holon Fossil. If that is the case, I can't see how Relicanth can search for it using exactly the same words.

To answer the question about why I would search for an Excavator when I could just the basic fossil, I would get the excavator to get a stage 1 or stage 2 out of my discard pile/deck and be able to pull even faster or recycle cards.
