Energy:

  • 9 Fire
    3 Electric

Strategy:
The strategy of this deck is to get Zekrom EX active and have Emboar on the bench supplying fire energy to the Zekrom. You must have to put 2 Electric on it though. So every time you use Zekrom EX's attack, you have to discard 2 energy. You keep your two electric energy and discard you fire. The move does 150, but put muscle band and it does 170, which OHKO's a lot of pokemon. Zekrom is the main hitter. Pyroar is in the deck for stunning. Reshiram is the other hitter. For 3 energy, (2 fire, 1 colorless) You hit 120 and if you have muscle band then 140, but you have to discard 2 fire energy. Discard it, search it and have Emboar on the bench and attach. Pretty simple. This is my first starting everything from scratch deck and not take off ideas from the meta. (RayBoar, Blastoise/Keldo EX/ Black Kyurem EX/, Yveltal EX/ Garbodor, etc.) So if you guys have any tips, please put them in the comments, I like this deck, and I'm not a brainiac in Pokemon TCG, so yeah. :)

I think this is a good deck idea. There is not much I would change. I'd add maybe one or two Miltank because Powerful Friends is a good attack. I'd also maybe add one or two switches because if your Emboar gets stuck active, it's a four retreat cost to get him out. The last card I'd add is a Sacred Ash for an energy retrieval. Sacred Ash is your way to get pokemon back.

There's a very similar deck my friend is playing with except that it uses Charizard EX instead of Zekrom EX. It basically does the same thing, only it requires Fire Energies and can be powered up with Blacksmith. So ideally you can power up Charizard EX in one turn with Blacksmith and Double Colorless Energy, and you don't even need to set up a Stage 2 for Energy Acceleration. This is his list from memory; you can do with it what you wish.

Pokemon: (9)
3 Charizard EX
3 Pyroar
3 Litleo

Trainers(37):
4 Juniper
4 N
3 Blacksmith
2 Colress
2 Skyla
2 Lysandre
4 Fiery Torch
4 Ultra Ball
3 Muscle Band
2 Bicycle
2 Hypnotoxic Laser
2 Pal Pad
2 Switch
1 Dowsing Machine

Energy (14)
4 Double Colorless Energy
10 Fire Energy

What makes it so good in theory is that with Muscle Band, Combustion Blast does 170 which is enough to knock out a lot of big EX's like Mewtwo, Deoxys, Thundurus, Yveltal, etc. For the 180 HP EX's, he has lasers to make Combustion Blast hit for 180 if he really needs to, but I can't figure out why he doesn't just take out Muscle Bands to make room for a proper Virbank Lasers. I guess his thinking is that Muscle Band is more consistent and reusable.

I really like my deck and its really similar to that. Its a great idea and deck, I just personally like this deck. Its been doing great in testing, and so is the lugia deck, so I have to make a decision to make one of those decks.

If I am not mistaken, the deck Mora presented is something like the one that made Runner-Up for Senior in the US Nationals this year. Seems like a good deck. If I find the link when I am back at home, I let you know.

PS.: Not sure which big championship was it, as I am not from the US. I just saw the top 5 decks for each category of said event.
