I used to be interested in the TCG, but after most of my rare cards were stolen I lost interest. Now I'm starting to come back, but it's been too long so I forgot some rules, that and it seems that they changed a lot of the rules. Anyway, my question is: how do status effects work again? Like with sleeping, after the turn in which you put the opponent to sleep, do you start flipping the coin to see if it wakes up, or do you start flipping after the opponent takes their turn. Confusion: Does confusion stick around until you heal it? Poison: Does poison start working at the end of the turn that you inflict it or after the opponent's turn? Lastly, does anyone still remember what the old rules regarding status effects were? Thanks in advance.

wel, if ur comin back after a long time, then u mite like buyin one of the new decks. i prefer the powerbooster electivire deck because of the 3 stantlers which are godly <3 and the new decks all come with a holo, a few rares, reasonable energy, and not enough trainers (but you can fix that ^^). what else, it comes with an updated rule book which has EVERYTHING you need to kno. hope i helped <3

Sleep: Between the turns a coin is flipped. So after EACH player ends the turn.
Confusion: Yes, Confusion still sticks around, unless you retreat it. Unlike the old days, Confusion doesn't affect retreat anymore. There is also no damage done in self-hits, you just place 3 damage counters. Difference; weakness and resistance is not applied.
Poison: Starts working right after infliction.

The rules of status are still the same, except for Confusion. And Burn is added. Burn works like poison, except rather as doing 10 damage each turn, you flip a coin and if tails, it does 20, if heads, it does nothing. Burn is a very rarely used effect though.
