Ok.! I might as well post this up. A lot of cards for the pokemon TCG will be lost and/or forgotten by the end of August. I would like to give my condolences to the following:

My first Tin :(

SamurottBWPromo22.jpg

CrushingHammer. "I hated you in every way"
Energy Retrieval. "why?"
Recycle. "I always disliked this card because you had to flip a coin."
Pokémon Communication. "That is something I'll miss a lot"

Before EX-Pokemon became a big thing,I used Tornadus in so many different decks i built. :( too bad

That was just the BW base set. :p

RIP Pokemon TCG. This new format sucks as bad as the one we have right now.

This is my first year playing. about to start my second. Do all formats catch this much flak or is this one just really that bad?

Don't forget energy switch. I'm going to miss that one a lot.

Why are they even bothering with a rotation? All the broken cards are still there, but some of the cards that benefit rogue decks are going bye bye.

Let's be real; the only thing that mattered that got rotated was Revive (pssh be quiet Energy Switch). Of course, the lack of Revive makes the format considerably worse, so just rotating that is more than enough.

RIP Gothitelle and good riddance. OMG! She came back from the dead in japan as a reprint!

That really depends. This one is getting a huge amount of flak because of the hugely overpowered basics, meaning that is the only thing ever run in the format with few exceptions. I can see the format getting a bit clearer, however, I still would like the DP-on format back. That one, though I complained about it before because of the sheer amount of Machamp and Gyarados, it required a whole heck of a lot more skill than this format.

But yeah, I am not as happy as I could be about the rotation. I was really hoping for a Dragons Exalted-on format, though I knew it wouldn't happen, it would take away Darkrai and his support, meaning Hydra goes out of style, Absol gets worse... Heh. A lot of the decks go out due to that rotation. But alas! This rotation will have to do.

Wait, Recycle and Crushing Hammah go? Well, Snorlax has had it's last hoorah, then.

I'm not happy about watching Eels go (for now). They were the only reason Lightning-types even saw play last format but now...they will be obsolete. RIP Gothitelle, and thank the good heavens. That thing was almost as bad as Vileplume UD!

You know when I said that Eels needed to get rotated regardless?
I take it back.
I take all of it back.

This rotation is worse than Eels not getting rotated. NXD-on is the worst rotation possible. Worse than BW-on (no rotation), worse than DEX-on, and certainly worse than DRX-on, what I was personally hoping for (but I would have settled for DEX-on).

Thank goodness I am a judge before I am a player, or I would be really miffed.

^ Don't argue with him, it's a long story >_>

My main complaint is that all the rotation does is centralize the format. We rotate Energy Switch (a card that no one ever hated and allowed for some creativity, and it essentially kills Darkrai), Eels (basically just kills off a metagame deck), and Klinklang BW (kills another metagame deck). Considering the new set isn't really opening a ton of potential for new decks (Genesect/Virizion being the only decent one and it's reaaaalllly overhyped), the metagame of the next format consists of 2-3 decks, which is truthfully kind of ridiculous.

My hope is that some of the other options out there stay viable, despite the fact that it seems pretty bleak (Garbodor, Trubbish.dec, Suicune, etc.).

Edit: Just had a long conversation with a friend about this. It looks like there may some other decent decks coming in and there might be room for creativity with techs. Who knows.

The only things that I miss are Energy Switch and Revive. Poor Darkai/Lasers...

Missing Energy Switch. However I actually don't think NXD-on is that bad. There are still several viable decks, although not quite as many.

Agreed, I never really used energy switch in the deck I run (Blastoise/Vannilluxe/Keldeo) but I think that this roation has some potential.

Im playing with a Mewtwo Ex/Sigilyph/Tornndus idea at the moment that I am looking forward to testing out.

Essentially, Tornadus is used to wall and keep refreshing your hand while you set up Sigilyph's 4 tool ability, something like Rock Gaurd, Eviolite, silver mirror, silver bangle:

Could turn Sigilyph into a really interesting card as it wouldn't take damage from Plasma cards which would counter genesect nicely, has an attack of 100 which deals nicely with basics, theres a 60 damage penalty for attacking it plus any attacks are reduced by 20 thanks to eviolite.

Combine these with mewtwo to counter non plasma energy based attackers such as vannilluxe/blastoise and a pokecentre to health your siglyphs its definately somethign I look forward to playing around with

I have said this in a whole lot of different threads here but it needs to be repeated again and again for emphasis.

No EX in deck = No championship for you

That is how you describe the format.
