I think this card is interesting and will see some play. The main counter I could see this being used for would be for Team flare tools, and maybe even G booster. The problem is almost every deck runs tools for various reasons like muscle band and silver bangle for more damage output, Hard charm and weakness policy for damage reduction, float stones for free retreat, spirit links. So what do you guys think this card will work well with and what are your thoughts on the actuall ability.

Banette - Psychic - HP80
Stage 1 - Evolves from Shuppet

Ability: Hidden Tools
As long as this Pokemon is in play, each Pokemon Tool attached to both player’s Pokemon has no effect.

[P][C][C] Psycho Shot: 60 damage.

Weakness: Darkness (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1

Firstly, I really like the card, cause Banette is awesome! And the ability is nice. Personally, I think decks we adapt for the card to be used, and it could actually be a good way to kickstart other Megas that have no Spirit Link.

This card seem incredibly strong. Since almost every deck runs Muscle Band, you're basically reducing all damage done to you by 20. It can also cause tons of problems for Mega decks, since they can't use Spirit Link. If they're not running Spirit Link and Muscle Band for some reason, they're probably running some sort of tool, making this card always handy to have in play (except against Garbodor, of course).

I think most any deck can run this card, but they would be forced to cut the tools out of their deck. They're not worth running if you're shutting them off most of the time.

I don't think it makes Megas without Spirit Links more playable, but it does hurt Megas that do have Spirit Links. I'm almost certain it nullifies Flare Tools as well, but I'm not looking at the cards at the moment. If that's what you're playing it for though, Tool Retriever would be a lot more consistent. I like the Ability overall; it's interesting.

The effect is really interesting but I cannot see what deck it could fit.

As a tech it is difficult to include because it is a stage 1 pokemon. (and you will have to include its previous form as well).

Any decks that inherently run shuppet around here?

There are no legal copies of Shuppet at the moment so no.

A stage 1 isn't too bad to tech. People tech Garbodor and Electrode and stuff.

If this card were a basic, then it would be useful. But being a Stage 1 means I don't think it will see much play. A 1-1 line in any deck is pretty clunky, and I wouldn't devote any more space than that to this guy. It also doesn't help that M-Rayquaza-EX can evolve on the first turn, while Banette can't. Even if you don't have the Spirit Link, Rayquaza is likely to evolve T1 since you won't be attacking then anyway, and will start making mayhem next turn.

Another thing to consider is Garbodor. Garbotoxin will disable this, as it's not an effect of the tool, but rather an effect of Garbodor that's triggered by a tool being attached, even if that tool itself has no effects (correct me if you think I'm wrong). That in mind, Banette can be cancelled, and there's also decks out there like Flareon and Night March which can operate without their tool- and both of these are gaining popularity. On that note, it won't stop Tool Drop because the tools are still in play even if they're not doing anything.

Still, this card could see some play, perhaps as a measure against Head Ringers / Jamming Nets, or perhaps weakness policy if that starts seeing play for some reason. The only deck that's likely to be crippled by this card is Primal Groudon.

So the only legal shuppet will be the one that comes out in Roaring Skies??

Agree with the above!
