Help Rules question: cinccino's ability make do

Hey all.

So me and my friend have read this different ways. The ability states: "you must discard a card from your hand to use this ability. Once during your turn you may draw 2 cards."

I took this as each time you want to use the ability, you must discard a card.

He is reading it as you must discard a card, and then can use the ability every turning without further discarding cards.

Was hoping to get an answer to which is right.

You discard a card every time you use the ability. i.e. Once per round.

The clue here is in the writing. "You must do X to use this ability". Compare that to an ability which reads "As long as this pokémon is in play, you may do X"
