Ruling Ruling on Smeargle (SW)?

Hello~

I have a situation with Smeargle's Trace abillity that I'm not sure about. :/

This situation happened and I don't know what the ruling would be:
Smeargle uses Trace, succed his coin toss and copies Manaphy's Aqua Ring that says "Switch Manaphy with one of your benched Pokemon". Since Smeargle's Trace copies the attack except for it's energy cost but also mention that you must still do anything else required for that attack, does that mean that my opponent's Manaphy would switch with one of my benched Pokemon?

no, but smeargle would, since "Manaphy" is referring to the pokemon using the attack...

That clarifies a lot because there was several diferent variation of this situation that could happen with several different types of Pokemon that copies other Pokemons abilities. But yeah... It makes sense that the name of the Pokemon refer to the user of the attack.

Thank you for your time. :D <3

I don't see how they could rule it illegal. You're copying a legit attack and maybe you realized that the opponet has crappy attacks that you don't want to do (aka something that makes you discard your energy) and you wanted to get a tails to cancell it out. Its not like your doing metronome for metronome for metronome....;/ If this was a deliberate stall tactic then I would say you need to do something else if you keep getting heads.
