Ruling Scoop Up (Base) on Pokemon LEGEND

Can I use Scoop Up on a LEGEND?

The thing that is confusing is the wording "choose 1 of your Pokemon" and "return the basic".




Coincidentally, how does Scoop Up work with stage 2 Pokemon put into play with Archie's Ace?

Scoop Up could not be used on Pokemon LEGEND or nonbasic Pokemon put into play via Archie/ Maxie or a similar effect, as well as Restored Pokemon for that matter. Since there is no Basic Pokemon that these sorts of cards are played on, they are not valid targets for Scoop Up. Contrast this with modern cards like AZ, Scoop Up Cyclone, etc. which do not specify only the Basic Pokemon is picked up.
