Just a quick question about this. So Absol's attack Doom News instantly KO's the active Pokémon after the end of your opponents turn, but if they evolve it gets rid of the effect, so my question is that does Sea of Nothingness keep that effect? It says special conditions are not removed when Pokémon evolve or devolve, but I'm not quite sure what qualifies as a special condition?

I think it would not make a difference if they evolved, it would take that away? I could be wrong as Im not as in tune with rulings like this.
Special conditions pertain to poison, sleep, confusion, paralyzed, or burned.

Yeah I'm not too sure about this one either, but @F4H_Jay is correct that special conditions pertain to poison, sleep, confusion, paralysis and burn. Sea of Nothingness would not interact with Doom News in any way since it is not a special condition, it is an effect of an attack.

Edit: I listed that it was an effect of a Pokemon, its an effect of an attack.

I want to say that evolving wont remove Doom News because it is not a special condition. I think the only way to negate this effect would be to switch your active Pokemon out. Don't quote me on that though, hopefully someone more knowledgeable can answer this part of the question.

Doom News places an effect on the opponent's Defending Pokémon, so anything that resets/removes effects on the Defending Pokémon (Evolving, going to the Bench, Pokémon Ranger, etc.) will remove the effect of Doom News. If it was worded to say "Opponent's Active" then it would be an effect on the player or field, not targeting a specific Pokémon.

Special Conditions are Burn, Confusion, Paralysis, Poison, and Sleep. Nothing else, at least in the TCG.

Okay so sea of emptiness won't help keep Doom News around. Thanks everyone!
