GSC Second Generation - Shiny Pokemon Breeding Questions

Hey Trainers! I'm hoping someone could help me!

I'm doing a Shiny Pokemon Breeding challenge for Pokemon Silver for my YouTube channel {no unhealthy plugs ~.^}, & I have a few questions about it.

I've never been one to understand the values & reasons for breeding, the basic of my understanding to breeding was fairly simple; put two Pokemon in the Daycare Center that can breed {I usually do the same breed of Pokemon, so Egg groups have never really been a focus for me despite the No Egg Group}, & if they like each other, an Egg occurs.

That being said, I've been doing a lot of research on breeding for Shiny Pokemon so I can complete this challenge I've placed for myself, & have been extremely confused about the entire thing.

Some of the things I'm not quite understanding are the values that must be in place {this is the guide I've been using: http://www.gamefaqs.com/gbc/446340-pokemon-silver-version/faqs/10977 }, or more specifically how to find out the values of a particular Pokemon, or if the values even specifically matter, & it's possible that eventually, my two regular, non-shiny Pokemon will give me a Shiny Pokemon {with enough luck & crossed fingers, of course}.

Right now, my two Bulbasaurs, Abbey & Wyatt {achieved by trading with myself & an extreme amount of patience for Abbey}, produce Eggs, but I just want to make sure that I'm on the right track here, & am just waiting for a miracle, or if because the values of Abbey & Wyatt might not be in coordination with what the guide suggests.

I'm hoping for any help. Please! D:

It doesn't really matter if you breed a shiny Pokemon or not. It does not have an effect on the chance the offspring is shiny.

In general the better your IVs are that the parents have, the more likely you are to have the offspring with good IVs. Since you are wanting a Bulbasaur, the stats that will matter the most are HP and Special Attack. Just make sure the parents both have good IVs in those two stats and your newly hatched Bulbasaur should have good IVs in those stats.
