DPPt/HGSS Should I keep my Pokemon at Level 50 or should I go for Level 100?

(Note: This actually applies to ever generation, including 5, but I do not know where to put such a thread...)

Essentially, with respect to every Pokemon generation, is there any point in keeping Pokemon at Lv. 50 or should I just go ahead with putting them at Lv. 100? (I mean, should I bother leveling up my Lv. 50Yellow team, Crystal team, Emerald team, and so on...?)

Get ALL the exp!

Go to 100. The only reason you should keep your Pokemon at level 50 is if you want to do the Battle Frontier at level 50 in Emerald, where they have to be that exact level.

I do not care about Lv. 50 if there is an Open Level version.

Well, usually no.
The midway point is when your supposed to fight the elite 4 but there is plenty of reasons to keep your main party at that level. The only reasons to get a Pokemon to level 100 is -
- for completions sake
- Battle Frontiers
- Quick levelling against the Elite 4 w/ exp share
- EV'ing.
- Or trade fodder

The main reasons for keeping Pokemon at a low level usually lie in-game territory if you want a challenge, including -
- Catching spree's
- Rematches against the Elite 4
- Trade fodder (again)
- Battle Frontiers (again)
