Should Lugia be a Psychic type Pokemon

This belongs more in General Discussion (I guess...).

Yes, have you seen the 2nd pokemon movie? The TCG focuses more on making Lugia flying or water type over psychic because that is what the associate Lugia w/, and being that it can learn a variety of them it fits. The art symbolizes that, because if they made it a psychic, it would look all corny and just not very well done...

That was a smart move on the card makers part.

there's no reason a colorless or psychic Lugia can't have the artwork it has now
it really bothers me that it's a water-type card

Lugia Legend does 200 damage, so it doesn't really matter o.o
Being a watertype makes him able to use Raindance, so it's pretty kewl.

All those delta Pokémon don't have their real type, does that make sense to you!?

Yes. Delta Species are supossed (sorry for bad english) to be a weird type.
Torkoal is also strange. In the old days, Torkoal was a fighting type in a POP set. But he was no Delta. Is Lugia a delta? No. Why is he water?

Pokedex No: 249
Name: Lugia
Type: Psychic/Flying
Classification: Diving Pokémon
HT: 17'10"
WT: 476.2lbs
Pokedex Data: It sleeps in a dep-sea trench. if it flaps it's wings, it is said to cause a 40-day storm.
So Lugia's a Psychic/Flying type....not water
Cards: Please do not post the actual image. Links are fine enough.

Well, I´m very sad with this mess that the gamefreak did... I watch Pokemon since I was born, I've played all those games, but the one which really started my "devotion" to the games was Pkm Silver, because I was able to catch Lugia, my favorite one. In that game it was a water/flying type. I continued playing all the other games in the hope to catch Lugia again in another version, just to see it. Than Emerald came, I've got the dawn codebreaker, got both Lugia and Ho-oH, first i was disapointed because some details were in black, not blue how it should to be, but I checked the stats, and there it was, Water/Flying type. And thats good because hydro Pump is one of my favorite moves. Than Platinum came, i used the pal park, excited with the possibilit to unite all those legendary pokemon (I already had Dialga, Palkia, Arceus, Manaphy, Phione, Darkrai, Cresselia, Zapdos, Moltres and articuno) just how nature created then, I ran to catch Lugia, the 3rd one, and when I saw, i almost breaked my computer. Pshy/flying type? What´s Hydro Pump doing here if that it is? But worse, it is the most powerful attack tha Lugia learns and it simply won´t work on full power! Because it´s pshy type! I hope that they had fixed that in Soul Silver, Hearth Gold, because if they don´t I'm sure they will lose a lot of fans...

Even though this was revived, I'll let it open so anybody can discuss more.

what the hell are you talking about? Lugia has always been a Psychic type.

even though in crystal I ran my lugia as a water with 1 psychic atk (lol, i was rather clueless about lugia at the time), but I was thinking they could have gone with the awe inspiring legend water card's and had the promo either psy or colourless, oh well. cya

According to Bulbapedia, probably why people consider lugia a water is because lugia is the only non-water pokemon to learn hydro pump upon leveling. I still prefer lugia to be a psychic in the TCG than this water B/S, but whatever. And people who brought up the Delta Pokemon, I still don't understand that whole delta concept.
