Ruling Sigilyph / Sharpedo-EX interaction

One person has Sigilyph with Safeguard (Prevent all effect of attacks, including damage, done to this pokemon by pokemon-EX) and the other has a Sharpedo-EX which attacks with Hunt (Switch 1 of your opponent's Benched pokemon with his or her Active pokemon. This attack does 30 damage to the new Active pokemon.)

What is meant to happen here? Does sigilyph's ability block the attack from happening (as an effect is being switched by sharpedo-ex) or because Hunt doesn't "switch" the active pokemon - Sigilyph - it switches the defending pokemon, does the attack proceed as normal?

(I had this interaction in pokemon TCGO and wanted to check if what happened was right - the attack going ahead as normal)

These are the card scans in question.

I misread your question.

You're correct; because Hunt is targeting a Benched Pokemon, and not Sigilyph, the attack will proceed as normal.

Thanks for the answer and sorry for not posting the scans, I (incorrectly) thought that the abilities in question in full detail would be enough

It's no problem. We are told to make sure that every ruling is accurate, and that every post follows the rules. One of which is including the scans of each card every time :) it's not that we can't go off of just text, but one small word change can make all the difference. We always strive to ensure that us professors are bringing you only correct rulings.
