Prologue
Akira hated his life. He hated the theft, the stupid black uniform with the giant scarlet R that just screamed evil, his “master” who was really a greasy man almost always seen with a Persian, Giovanni. But now his life, or rather, the life he has known is about to end. Because after twelve years of waiting; twelve years of being enslaved to the life of a Rocket member; Akira Silver; was about to escape.
He sprinted down the hall and paused to pry open the window to the Rocket building. Akira had been kidnapped by Rocket agents as a small child and forced to work for them. He grew to develop an undying hatred for them.
He lowered a rope down the huge skyscraper that was his home, and climbed. It wasn’t incredibly difficult getting down. He had climbed much higher buildings to steal for his “master.” After several minutes had gone by he had been able to scale at least three quarters of the wall. When his feet finally slid to the ground: he ran. Faster than ever before, he needed too, for dawn was approaching, and the sunlight was already starting to peer over the Horizon.
He ran never looking back at that horrible tower that had housed most of the pain and suffering in his life. He only stopped when he reached the forest, where he knew nobody would look.
He put on his trenchcoat, the one with the red lining, released Sneasel, who had been his best and only friend during those harsh years, and was relieved, he had done it. His Life as a Rocket was over, his terrible years of torture were over. Then a man with silver hair approached him and said one word, “Greetings.”
Chapter 1: The Assignment.
Five years later…
“Akira, we have a… assignment for you.” A cloaked man revealed himself. His face shrouded by a hood that covered most of his face.
Akira now free from his forced childhood with Team Rocket, has joined an organization to make sure that the Rockets never did an evil deed again. Their secret leader, and comrade, Steven had been kidnapped by the rockets several years before Akira, and when Akira had run away, it was Steven that found him, took him in, and took care of him.
Akira was seventeen now, he had robin’s egg blue eyes, longish red hair that covered one eye, and a mental scar for life.
“It has come to our attention that team rocket has come into possession of a potentially dangerous artifact known as, the silver wing.” He Paused. “You are being assigned to find the artifact and steal it before the Rockets can use it.” The cloaked man said firmly.
“Silver wing eh?” he said cooly, “Sounds familiar, though I don’t know why.”
“Well, familiar or not the location of the Silver wing is not known to me, the only one I have knowledge of knowing the location is Absol.”
“Absol?” Akira Wondered. He had heard of Absol, it was the one who had been said to cause the frequent problems at the Crystal Range, a large mountain range that made up a large portion of the Khaos Region.
“I shall go and seek answers from Absol then.” Akira said.
He sat up and left the room, a shuffling noise indicated that Steven had also gone.
The compound that Steven had purchased had a Metallic feel to it, sort of cold, and hard. Akira walked along the steel floor tensely. A slight scratching noise came from a dark corner. “You can come out now,” Akira said calmly.
“What is it this time?” A black figure emerged from the darkness, a Sneasel. An Arbok and a Murkrow also emerged.
“Steven requests that we find an object called the Silver wing before it falls into Rocket hands, and we must find information about this object from Absol; in the Crystal range.” He said calmly. Sneasel communicated with the others. “Alright Murkrow will fly us to its base, hop on.”
The fly took at least twelve hours and when they arrived Murkrow fell to the ground, exhausted, as Akira recalled him into his pokeball.
Akira entered the pass cautiously, there had been tales of People that had come here and never come back, again he didn’t believe them but he was still cautious. A rumbling noise could be heard underground but Akira dismissed it, it was not of Consequence. However Akira Was Wrong, for after walking for about an hour the head of a granite serpent peered up from Underground, soon an Onix was in a frenzy attacking Akira. “Sneasel use Ice beam!” the frozen bolts hit the onix and it roared in pain releasing a barrage of rocks in retaliation. However sneasel was no longer behind onix but in front of it “Blizzard!” Akira shouted, as a storm’s worth of snow, sleet, and hail barraged Onix who swung around like a toy, and when it was over, fell to the ground, Knocked out.
Akira had not been expecting this, he was taking a little used path, why would a Pokemon that big bother to attack something as small as Akira, he was hardly a meal for a pokemon like that, unless… then it hit him. Unless it was running from something even bigger. As if on cue another giant serpent emerged from the ground. However this one was much bigger and had a metallic appearance to it.
“Steelix.” He managed to whisper, before it roared and did a full body tackle targeted at Akira. “Sneasel try and use an Ice beam.” He said, his initial shock gone. Sneasel manage to launch the ice beam successfully, but it glanced off of Steelix’s iron hide. Akira barely jumped out of the way, with Sneasel in pursuit before it struck a huge boulder, crushing it. It roared in pain and then swung its tail in Sneasel’s direction. Akira smiled; he had found its weakness.
“Sneasel, swagger” he said. Sneasel began to glow red, Steelix did also. It bellowed as it began to charge again at Sneasel, but its thoughts were clouded by the sudden outburst, and he missed and struck another boulder, this continued until Steelix had officially tired itself out and fainted.
Akira continued to trudge on as the atmosphere changed from rocky and rugged to snowy and cold, it was becoming harder to breathe. Sneasel huddled up to his master to keep him warm.
Suddenly a wave of blinding cold blindsided Akira knocking him and Sneasel into the cold snow. Akira numb with pain managed to see a snow covered black levitating body with bright blue eyes that he identified as a Glalie.
Sneasel angrily rushed towards the Glalie, raising a claw, “I’ll show you to screw with my master!” He tried to swipe at Glalie but it dodged out of the way just in time and threw itself at Sneasel.
Sneasel unprepared took the blow hard and was knocked back to join Akira, who at the time had regained his bearings and rummaged through his backpack to pull out a pokeball. “Arbok, go” he whispered hoarsely as the violet cobra snaked out of his pokeball.
“Acid,” Akira managed. The serpent raised its head and unleashed a violent stream of purple gunk onto Glalie’s face, immediately injuring it. “Bite,” he said a little more clearly as the snake lunged at the disgruntled Glalie and sank its sharp fangs into Glalie’s spherical form. Glalie let out a shriek as it fell and sank into the snow unconscious.
Akira. Tired and cold continued to ascend the mountain, and then he got within seeing distance of Absol.
----------
The snow capped mountain peaks glistened in the golden sun. The white fur of an Absol blends perfectly in with its surroundings, it is better that way, for if anything happened to spy the Pokémon, they would certainly rain down upon him, trying to destroy him, yes it was best that he was alone. There was something, it thought, a strange scent, not his own but very similar, a faint crunching sound could be heard from about one hundred feet below him. He looked down, and he could just make out the form of a human, gently creeping up the slope. He bares his teeth and charges down the mountain. The human looks up his red hair blown back by the wind. Then he made out another form, smaller, and not human following him, it seemed me lithe and catlike, he paused to watch, as the two ascended up the slope Absol identified the other being to be a Sneasel, and it made no move to attack the human so Absol assumed it was in league with it. When the human finally approached hearing distance, Absol cried out: “What are you doing Here Human!”
This Surprised the human and he groggily muttered, “I am seeking the one called Absol.”
Absol was confused; the human did not appear as though he meant to harm Absol. He crept closer, “That would be me, but why do you want me.”
The sneasel quickly jumped up to Absol, “We seek you because we are told that you know about an object called the silver wing, me and my companion here, we seek it.”
“I know the location of the Silver wing” Said Absol. Who growled. “But I have been sworn to secrecy, only those worthy may know.” He raided a horn. “But if you can defeat me, I shall guide you to it.
Akira readied himself. “I accept your challenge Absol, Sneasel, come out and use a Metal claw!” Sneasel’s hand began to shine, then he swiftly executed a backflip, and dug its claw into Absol’s neck.
Absol growled in annoyance and unleashed a discord that made Sneasel shudder and fall off of Absol’s back, who quickly proceeded, to pin Sneasel to the ground. Sneasel quickly unleashed a Blizzard attack knocking Absol off of himself. Suddenly Sneasel fell to the ground unconscious.
“That was a perish song attack,” said Absol calmly. Akira grunted and released Arbok from its pokeball the snake hissed violently at Absol, who wasn’t the least bit daunted. Absol’s horn began to glow, he was charging up for a razor wind attack. Arbok took this opportunity to lunge at Absol and sink his fangs into Absol’s hide however he was quickly blown off by the fully charged razor wind, both were very injured and neither looked like they could fight for much longer.
It was a standoff; neither side had any kind of advantage. Then Absol sat down and said “clearly human you are worthy of the knowledge,” he lowered his horn. “Capture me, and I shall lead you to the wing.
The human looked startled, but not much displeased. “Fine then, call me Akira,” Absol nodded and lowered his horn. “Then hello Akira,” he said cooly.
The Absol grunted, as he entered the Pokeball. Akira recalled Arbok and Sent out Murkrow. “Fly us to Black Valley,” He said coldly. Murkrow nodded, allowed Akira to jump on, spread his wings, and flew.
Chapter 2: The road to Redview
Akira and Sneasel walked along the worn path through the proclaimed “Valley of Death” here lived Pokemon that were said to be spirits, and all others ferocious and brave enough to enter. Akira had used a max revive on Sneasel who was now more excited than ever. Eyes peered out at them from holes in the cave; the valley had an ominous feel to it as well. “Target sighted.” Said a thin man in Rocket uniform, eyes focused through a pair of binoculars. “Ryu, activate the psychic shield.” Another man, stationed in one of the caves, a walkie-talkie to his ear pushed a button on a machine. Akira quickly stopped, not out of will, but because he was trapped by a wall of Psychic energy.
“Greetings.” A tall blonde man said arrogantly. “I am called Ken, but of course… you know me.” He laughed. Akira did know him, in his Rocket years Akira had been a member of the Team Rocket Elite Trio, along with Ken and Ryu, Harry, another Rocket was also training to be an Elite member.
“I don’t have time for this; I’ve abandoned the Rockets, including the Elite trio, unlike you.” Akira said in disgust.
“Well you had better had time, because I’m not leaving till we battle,” and Elekid appeared behind him and nodded in conformation.
“Fine.” Said Akira firmly Sneasel at his side. “Shadow claw.” Sneasel’s claws began to glow ominously. Then he charged at Elekid. “Thunderbolt.” Said the rocket. Sneasel nimbly dodged and slashed struck Elekid from behind. “Slash.” said Akira. Sneasel quickly ran up and slashed Elekid, who in retaliation unleashed a Shock wave at Sneasel who growled as he fought paralyzation, but Elekid won out and Sneasel became paralyzed. “Return sneasel, go Arbok.” The purple Cobra hissed and lunged at Elekid, digging his fangs deep into his face, blood began to run Elekid’s face. Then it fainted.
“Return Elekid,” said Ken not the least undaunted. “Go Tauros,” the great bull stood on its haunches and charged Sneasel sending him to the canyon wall, with many unsightly bruises.
“Sneasel, use Metal claw.” Said Akira in a bored tone. Sneasel manage to get up and lunge at Tauros with his glowing white claw; however Tauros dodged and Sneasel ended up injuring himself even more. Tauros took the opportunity to launch a beam of yellow energy directly at Sneasel knocking him out.
Akira surprised but not really disgruntled grabbed a Pokeball off of his belt. “Absol, go.” Absol emerged from his pokeball and immediately tackled Tauros sending it flying then it jumped gracefully up and sliced Tauros’s chest. The beast roared in pain and then collapsed.
“Electrode go,” Ken sputtered releasing the red and white ball. “Thundershock.” The electric attack dodged after Absol who gracefully leaped out of the way and unleashed a scorching hot blast of fire that left Electrode devastated, it collapsed as Absol claimed victory, and Akira recalled it.
“It appears I have lost, he said. I will let you go, for now.” The force field broke apart. “Good bye.” He said walking off.
Ken’s walkie-talkie buzzed. “Evaluation,” Harry’s voice said. “He’s grown better, but that was to be suspected. The two laughed. “He’s headed toward Redview town. “Alright then we will meet him there,” said Harry who chuckled.
---------
Akira didn’t take long to walk through the dark valley, he was pretty fast going through any place. The encounter with Ken had him wary and cautious. If there was one Rocket in the area then why couldn’t there be more?
Well it didn’t take long to find out. When Akira entered the huge fortress called Redview town, the whole city was under attack. The cause? A nine year old boy in a rocket uniform commanding his Steelix. His eyes met Akira’s and he laughed, jogging over to where he was, Akira had to admit the kid was pretty Athletic.
“Hello,” said the child politely. “I am Jagura, a member of Team rocket, and you I presume are Akira Silver, I hear from one of our Elite Trio that you managed to give him a run for his money, but I can tell you something,” He said grinning. “You are going to lose.”
Akira smiled “we’ll see, Murkrow, let’s show this kid what we can do.” With that a small crow-like Pokemon emerged from it’s pokeball. It shrieked and dived at Steelix, and then it began to glow. When Murkrow hit Steelix, who had gotten rather angry, it barraged Murkrow with Dragonbreath attacks. Murkrow dodged the brunt of the attack and disappeared.
Steelix confused turned its head this way and that, until Murkrow suddenly appeared right in front of him to strike him on the head, a faint attack, successfully knocking Steelix out.
The boy was astonished. “I-I lost, I never lose,” he fell to the ground and fainted, Police were soon there to pick him up.
A boy about his age, a little younger ran up to him. “Wow you did pretty well out there, I’m a starting trainer… can you give me a few tips?”
Akira laughed, “well, if I were to think of any it would be to use your opponents weakness to your advantage.”
“Thanks.” The boy said gratefully, "say whats your name?" The boy asked inquisitively. Akira hesitated, he didn’t want to tell anybody his name. “Akira, you can call me Akira.” He said finally.
“Oh, my name is Brian, maybe we’ll meet again some time.” he said.
“Yeah, maybe.” Akira smiled as the boy ran off.
Akira’s mood turned serious “wow, their making them battle at such a young age,” he sighed. “Well I guess that’s why I’m here.
He looked around, nobody was there, so he went to the Pokecenter to heal his pokemon “Here you go sir, all done.” He accepted his pokeballs and decided to stay for the night, working anymore that day would be counterproductive. The next day he would visit the gym for a little training and be on his way.
