http://google.com/ underground is a service for 15 bucks a month where one can read high quality articles written by people like j-wittz, chris fulop, frank diaz, etc. the articles are huge. i am considering getting a membership but i want to know if the 15 a month is worth it. i would to discuss the pros and cons in this thread.

Please provide a link, or further explain what you are talking about.

RE: six prizes undergound

I'm going to be honest. These are great players and fantastic writers... but you probably know most, if not all, of what they have to say. If you are a bad player, you will not, but you SHOULD be reading the base level stuff on the site. IF you are a good player, the information they have to offer is probably content you already knew about. Either way... you should not be paying for it (IMO). Now then, we buy books to read them. I can read up on the plot of a book... but until I read it in detail, I do not know the full story. That is how I see this. I know the plot to their articles, but the "underground" writers are so top tier that maybe it is worth it to read their wonderful work? Your call really. It is usually better just figuring the info out yourself. Also, these players (Josh, Diaz, etc) are SO easy to talk to that starting up a conversation will let you know a bit about what they think. I WOULD HOPE their articles reflect their actual beliefs. Josh posts his videos as a base line... they aren't as detailed as the articles I would assume, but they are very good as a starting point. Even if you have the decks and the strats, I cannot ensure that you will do well with them. You should be using knowledge that you are comfortable with instead of something you read up about. You must understand that those articles are not "how to win nats" articles. They are VERY WELL WRITTEN articles about certain decks. Can they help you win nats? No doubt. Will they? Probably not. Do you kinda get what I am saying?

RE: six prizes undergound

yeah, i do. i just feel like that i'd definitely pay less for it, like 5 bucks a month maybe. but i also understand that that's unfair both to adam and the writers. i guess i might do it when there're >50 articles on the site where i can buy a month's membership, read all of the articles, and then just cancel it. that seems like the best idea

RE: six prizes undergound

I also don't think that they'll post amazing stuff you've never heard of (unless you've been living under a rock since Triumphant came out). Plus, if they have some incredible deck idea or an amazing combo they figured out, I don't think they'll include that in the article; they'd probably use it to win nats/worlds.

RE: six prizes undergound

I'm a member of it.
I think it's pretty good.
The staff writers helping with your deck in private is usefull for beginners and the article's help much.

RE: six prizes undergound

15 dollars a month is quite a lot though. If it was 5 dollars a month I'd buy it, but 15 is way too expensive.

RE: six prizes undergound

The trouble is, I found that although alot of the articles were good, none of them really made a big difference to me. There's alot of websites which have good quality articles for free anyway, so I don't think http://google.com/ Underground is worth it.

RE: six prizes undergound

15 is a lot, so no. Most of the stuff is really really good, but most of it you could probably find out for free, eg deck strategies/combos. I don't think there are any "secret" combos that they'd discuss at all, everyone already knows all of the combos because so many people come up with them.

RE: six prizes undergound

Its not worth it.. Anything you find there can be found on beach. Just because they are big names, doesn't mean they know everything.

RE: six prizes undergound

I was a member for a month and I liked it. The price is a little steep but I understand why it has to be so much. I plan on joining again soon. The personal deck help really worked for me. J-Wittz gave me some pointers on my deck that REALLY turned out to be great. I wouldn't knock it until you have tried it and if its not worth it to you then that's cool.
