Getting back into the game, and am just curious of viable Greninja is next format. I've seen people say that it doesn't lose much. Can anyone be more specific? Thanks.

Greninja is good, like really good but it has to deal with Garbodor, which is going to be used in a good bit of decks. It also has to deal with Mega Mewtwo, which really sucks. Currently, I would avoid it, but I definitely see its potential maybe after a new set.

Initially Greninja is in trouble Garbodor just neuters the deck. It can't even Lysandre and ohko a Garb. There's no tool removal so the only option for Garb is to run another attacker, It has to be able to ohko Garb with little energy, or rely on back to back Lysandres. Neither sounds like a feasible option right now. If the deck gets some feasible tool removal in the next set or two though Id expect it back.

So, will Greninja/Talonflame still be a thing after rotation considering we'll be losing Battle Compressor?

Yes, most builds only ran 1-2 Battle Compressor, so it is wasn't necessary to the deck. The potential of Talonflame in Greninja is amazing, it is definitely worth the dead cards. Greninja overall isn't going to do so well, but Talonflame is worth it for those who will play Greninja.

Someone wanna explain why Talonflame is so good in this deck?

I know what it does. Why is it useful? I guess since you basically commit to the slow game you might as well increase your consistency and deal some chip damage while you're at it, but I've never felt like this deck was lacking so much in consistency that it needed Talonflame.

Personally I think it will still remain, just needs to watch for Garbodor. The next set is a reprint set, right. Pokemon has probably realized that garb will be even worse than before. But at the same time, they are the same people who brought it back :p.

It gives you a more consistent game, being able to late game attack for 40 (You can always use your abilities to deal more) and find those 2 cards you needed to win is amazing. You can consistently get 2 free Computer Searches, which really helps when you need to find certain techs or evolutions. You also get another attacker, so your opponent needs to take more prizes before you lose. Even though the card is fairly simple, it works amazingly in this deck.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Consistency is the answer like others have said. Since it can't play Shaymin-EX it is inherently less consistent than the other top decks. Since you play so few Basics in the deck there is a high chance you start Talonflame. It also lets you actually accomplish something turn one aside from Bubbling.
