So I just got Pokemon Colosseum, and I want hints and ideas

All the shadow pokemon are optional in terms of catching them IIRC, though it would best best to actually catch a good few because it's nice to have a variety of pokemon. Remember though, if you beat a shadow pokemon you'll never see it again!. And be warned, it takes a long time to train in the game, so the only way to train your pokemon would be doing the colosseum. If you manage to obtain all the shadow pokemon and purify them as well as beating Mt. Battle, you get a Ho-Oh. I'm not too sure if it has any special moves like Lugia in Pokemon XD though.

Um, @x_empoleon_x, It's exponentially easier to train your Pokemon at Mt. Battle rather than the colosseums, and you CAN find and re-battle most shadow Pokemon that you defeated later in the game, iirc.

The game really depends on the starter and the team you allow it to revolve around.I only used jolteon and houndoom in xd.Shadow pokemon are pokemon are pokemon that your willing to invest time upon,so choose them wisely.You get your choice of either:
Jolteon:
Breeze through the game as a speedy special sweeper.
Preferred:
Thunderbolt
Double Team/Thunder wave
Hidden power ice
shadow ball
VAPOREON:
A bulky water type good for support and offense
preferred:
Surf/Hydro pump
Shadow ball
ice beam
Wish
FLAREON:
A physical powerhouse with balanced stats
preferred:
Dig/Iron Tail
Flamethrower
Take down
Shadow Ball
ESPEON:
An agile psychic with sweeper like qualities
preferred:
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Calm Mind
Morning Sun
UMBREON:
A wall with great stall qualities
preferred:
Taunt
Bite/Shadow ball
Moonlight
Toxic/Psychic
Try to revolve a team around these five pokes

Actually, if you miss a Shadow Pokemon, it will re appear after the end of the game in Miror B.'s Team. If you already have all the Shadow Pokes from the main story, he will have a Shadow Dragonite.
