Its rather common in yugioh. They aren't legal for play, but they are cool to have.

They are called Orica or Original Cards

Pretty cool. I wouldn't pay $40 for it, but its neat.

Also, Miku yugioh card I saw while looking for Orica:

I just wonder how many people know that this is just a collectible. Because most probably think that it is playable and that it is just "Rare." Gotta' hand it to the seller though. They plainly state that it is not playable by calling it an Orica, but know that the card is huge therefore making an easy trick.

You should understand what you are bidding on before placing a bid. If the seller deceives you, that is bad. If you buy a worthless item because of your lack of knowledge, it is your fault.

Couldn't have worded it better myself. Learned that the hard way...

If you are too foolish to come to PokéBeach and ask questions, I have no sympathy for you. Besides if you look at the history of the winning bidder, it strikes me as unusual.

as konter said they're popular in yugioh, especially for fun decks for playing with friends/at league. I've thought about paying 40 bucks for a set of epic looking YGO seal of oricalcos cards (never made in English so deffinately fake and they're honest/more open that the mewtwo guy is).

You guys are using the wrong F word. Its not fake, its fun. Thats all there is to it.

Incidentally, for a made from scratch card, it looks very well done.

yeah im pretty sure most people can tell from the art its fake, but it would be a pretty cool proxy to have, probably not 40 dollars, but still cool

its an orica which means its kinda fake but is just a painted card which normally look cooler type in orica on ebay and you will find loads of them.

You are correct. Fake implies that it is a copy of a real card. I would rather call it a Fan card.

Yeah Fan card is a better term, since selling fake cards is illegal, we don't want to get them mixed up.

Couldn't the card he is selling be considered fake? Also, I am fairly confident none of his buyers even know what they are bidding on or know what orica means. Either way, the seller is being sneaky.

He is not making any claims about the card. The card does not match any real card.

I guess you're right, but I still think the seller knows full well he can take advantage of some people.
EDIT: oh, and amisheskimoninja, if it's just for fun, he shouldn't be selling it.

Yes, I know the buyer is responsible, but you can't help but wonder if the seller is taking advantage of the fact the people need mewtwos bad.

The seller is not making any false claims about. If you need Mewtwo bad, then you should know what you need. Once again it is the buyer's fault for not knowing.

Look at this auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blastoise-ex-104-112-World-NM-Promo-Pokemon-/390389540368?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ae507a610#ht_734wt_698

Your link is not an auction, and it is a WC card. Not legal, yes, but also official. I understand the seller is doing nothing wrong, all I'm saying is that he is selling the card knowing full well at least one person will think it's real. This is not something I would do. I would give the fake* card as a gift to my friend or something. Think about it. Mewtwo EX is getting extremely hyped, so anyone seeing a bid on one will bid on it. The seller is taking advantage of this hype and selling a fake* card. Again, I'm not saying he is doing anything wrong, I understand it is the buyer's responsibility.

*custom, fun, whatever you want to call it
