so whats acceptable and whats not?

ok now that hgss is out is that just like the normal game now
can we use our dp and pl series cards with thesre or is this unacceptable like ex cards?
 
DP-HGSS cards are legal until late august when DP-SF will be rotated (Most likely) Then it will be Pl-On.
 
They basicly do this for profit, when 1 good deck comes along(exp. Gardellade(the old 1), LBS, Eeveelutions, etc.) are people going to switch from that deck? Normally not, but depending on what comes out later, so people have to keep on buying cards to stay competitive, and stay good in competitive tournaments. And is it working? Yes, most of the top competitors buy 1 or more boxes from each set, and even the people who aren't in the top buy boxes and packs and more.
 
It has a few reasons. Marketing-based, it makes no sense to keep old cards in - its better to keep pushing newer product instead, selling those. Playerbase-based, its not fair to a new player if they were to need cards from the really old and hard to get sets to compete. Which is why Yugioh fails so hard now.
B'sides, if all old cards were legal...have fun losing all games if you have to start.

Actually...Yu-Gi-Oh! reprints a lot of the older, good cards (either through starter/structure decks, reprint sets or duelist packs) it just means that older fans don't have to go out and buy newer editions of cards.
 
No; in everyone's opinion, it is UNACCEPTABLE to use your old legal cards. I refuse that you can use your DP-on format cards and I will call a judge. Then the judge will make you lose The Game and then it'll be all over, baby.

See? I called, and it's all over, baby.
