Ruling Some minor questions..

Two questions..

1) What does Holon Energy WP EXACTLY negate? It negates EFFECTS of an attack, meaning the only thing an attack can do is do damage. So what me and my friends were wondering were questions like:

- Does Holon WP negate Dragonite Ex (DF) attack "Dragon Roar" because it's placing damage counters.
- Scenario: My opponent has Blastoise (SW) with a Water Energy and WP, and I attack it w/ Rayquaza Ex d (DF). Does Ray Ex do 50 or 30?

It's questions like that that got us kind of confused.

2) We played a 2 on 2 battle w/o knowing the EXACT rules of 2-v-2's. But the way we did it is Team 1 (Players A & B) and Team 2 (C & D). My team (T2) knocked out Player B. So the way we did turns was Player C, Player A, Player D, Player A, Player C, Player A and so on and so forth.

The question is.. I had my Tyranitar Ex d (DF) out, my partner had Kingdra Ex d (DF) out, and my opponent had Latios d (DF) out. He said if he attacks me, than me nor my partner can affect him w/ our ex's during our next turn. So we were stuck for awhile. I said that it only affects who ever he attacks. Just seeing if we can get an clarification on it.

I don't blame you if you got confused reading this, I got confused writing it lol. But any help would be greatly appreciated. I have other questions but they're small questions, but if anyone can link me to a page with Team Battle Rules, that would be great. Thanks!

1. Any effects that add damage aren't effects per se, they're part of finding the formula. Any additional effects like damage counters or special conditions are. Note that things that refer to the opponent aren't blocked.

2. Double battle is a single person playing with two pokemon on the field at one time. Anyway... It's against Latios EX. SO you can't damage him. Though you should be able to attack his partner, and snipe away with Electromark.

It negates effects of attacks "done to that Pokemon [the one WP is attached to]". That's the important phrase here.

Correct. Effects are anything that isn't damage. But keep reading.

Yes. Placing damage counters is an effect, and it's being done to that Pokemon.

It does 50. The added damage from Rayquaza's attack is an effect, but is it an effect done to Blastoise? No, it's something that you work into the damage calculation, before any damage is actually done.

Only effects that directly affect that Pokemon are prevented. So things like coin flips for added damage, Gallade flipping prizes, etc. -- those still happen.

Your opponent was right. The effect rests on Latios, so it doesn't matter who attacks him -- it gets blocked.

As far as "official" rules go:

See section 4.3.
