hey guys i'm going to my first prerelease this sunday in the hopes of getting a few omastars/aerodactyls/empoleons early. i'm going to try and make an empostar deck and stuff. well i just have a few questions on the fossils cuz they're kind of weird.

1) can i rare candy helix fossil to omastar?

2) can i use fossil excavator to search out old amber? it doesnt say fossil in its name but it technically is a fossil so if you cant it's kind of dumb.

3) on my first turn if i have helix fossil in play and i attach a water energy, can i evolve it to omanyte that turn using its pokepower? it's considered evolving but that's kind of like using rare candy on your first turn if you go second.

thanks in advance!:D

1) yes you can because it counts has a basic pokemon
2) errated in process
3) yes likes the evee's UF pokepower

Old Amber is in no way a Fossil because it lacks the word Fossil. So right now, you can't search it out with Fossil Excavator.
"Being errated in process" means that Nintendo is looking at the wording currently and that they haven't decided what the best decision would be. I think they'll just make it a Fossil like all others, but it would be cool if they didn't.

This thread goes into TCG Questions, as the questions are about the cards themselves.

What has been said is not only completly unconfirmed, but completly incorrect. The translation for both Relicanth and Fossil Excavator is perfect. Old Amber is not a fossil. The japanese name does not contain a set of characters present in the names all the other trainers that can be played as basic "fossil" pokémon. This set of characters is also present in Relicanth and Fossil Excavator's text, showing clearly what they are looking for.

As for whether Old Amber must be played if it the only basic in your hand, we wait.
