Discussion Something I've Noticed With Gardevoir GX Decks

So, I've seen a lot of Garde GX lists, all play it one of three ways, Pure, with Diance, or with Alolan Vulpix. But something i haven't seen, which confuses me, is why no Geomancy Xerneas? I understand that Garde has built in acceleration, but with the way the deck works, I'm pretty confident you get more damage out with Geomancy. Here's why, yes, Gardevoir's ability is great, BUT, it requires energy in hand, meaning less cards in your hand for set-up. So if you focus more on your set-up, and let Geomancy do all the work, then i feel like it would be more efficient. I know that every says you need the evolution help, but i dont think you do. It seems overkill to me.

Xerneas seems like a good choice for the deck, but the two energies provided by Geomancy go on two different benched Pokemon. This means that it only provides one extra energy on a benched Gardevoir-GX (3 per turn instead of 2 if Xerneas is in the active). Xerneas is relatively frail so you basically lose a prize for that extra acceleration.
I think it might be a one-of in some decks, but Gardevoir-GX seems to already have built-in acceleration that works fine.

While it is better situationally to use Xerneas, it is better more often to use a pokemon like diance or alolan vulpix because you are able to get out more pokemon to the bench, which is better in the long run. You are expecting to be getting 3 energy to Gardevoir GX by attaching at DCE and fairy energy, which can be done in one turn alone. While OHKO's will be used in the deck, the point is that DCE's are providing a lot of extra damage. Getting out Gardevoir GX's will be a better overall plan because they don't require much to hit for enough. Really any pokemon heavy deck with stage 2's will prefer an attack to search for pokemon over one to get energy in the current format we have. Let me know what you think about that theory, hope it helped! Thanks!

Given Gardy's ability I'd focus more on accelerating pokemon over energy. Go with Dancie or vulpix and get out Gardy's faster imo is the better way to go over accelerating the energy with Xerneas. If you get out Gardy or Multiple Gardys a turn earlier than you would if you were running Xerneas your accelerating the same amount of energy anyway.

The main obstacle to setting up Garde GX is the pokemon, not the energy. Xerneas is a "win-more" type of card
