Well everyone else is making one, and I like art as well. So what the hey. :D

Rules:

1: All of these are up for use, but post here saying your using the piece.

2: You don't need to give credit on any of these pieces, as most of them have my watermark on them. =] (Except my latest one, I'll get the Watermark on soon. ;])

The first one is okay, it needs a border. It should also be a bit smaller, as the right side is a bit plain. I'd also try something a little bit more spooky for that theme, download a cloud banner and put it at low opacity to create a haze. Gengar would also look better at a lower opacity as well. The text should be in a better spot, perhaps the top right hand corner where it's not the center of attention. The eye should always look at the art of the banner before the text.

The second one's background is not good. It is crushed, never try and resize an image for a background it makes things look awful . I'd start off with maybe just a black or navy blue background, get some lighning brushes, maybe a cloud brush, and creat your own background. Same thing with the text on this on this one, it needs better placement. My only grievance with Raichu is that the cut out still has white around that, you might want to manually remove that, just get your eraser tool and zoom in to get there. Good border, nice job on that.

If you haven't already, download GIMP and Paint.net, both are free art programs that are really useful. Gimp allows you to download different brushes, I believe there is a tutorial for that somewhere.

Keep making art, practice makes perfect. If you keep up the dedication, you are well on your way to becoming skilled!

TIP: Don't save the file as JPG
Save it as PNG

Monkey- Yeah, I tried to add a border, but for some odd reason it wouldn't allow me. :/ I'm not that impressed with the background either on the Raichu one, but I didn't know once you *png'd it it put all the layers in one. -_- I already have GIMP, I'll probably try paint.net once I learn GIMP a bit more. Thanks for all the advice! =3

You're improving, the shadow chao render could be better. You still have a problem with the text, it doesn't stand out, and it's hard to read. Try to contrast text colors, like if you have a black background, use a white one. If you have a Blue background, try yellow, especial since your Angel chao has yellow in it.

I look and see your first banner. Then I look at the Angel Chao banner and I see major improvements. Text is and area I have problems with and apparently so do you as Matt has been pointing out. One thing you might try is contrasting the text like Matt said but also add a Drop Shadow to it and brush over the top of it with some grass/grunge/splatter/rough brushes in the same color as your solid BG. It gives your text a good effect that is sure to not gain a ton of attention but will still make it blend and look good with your banner. Just a text tip that I thought might be useful for you, but also don't forget the many effects GIMP has and how much you can use those effects to get asstounding effects as I learned when I didn't have Photoshop.

I really like your vector tags. You are pretty good at not over-doing it like most people. You can do a LOT more with the color scheme though, the top 2 are all blue.

Yeah you're right about the colors, I try to keep the background the same color as the pokemon, but I really should experiment with other colors. =]

On the garchomp, the background to the left of Garchomp looks pixely.

Well, since someone already posted, I guess I'll go ahead and post to keep this thing alive. (Not to mention someone seems to.... Want it up again. xD It's somewhat funny though, because I was just about to post in this thing for my new banner. xD)

Yeah, it does look a bit... Odd I guess. I think it was because I used a LARGE Vector Brush on it.

I haven't been able to make banners due to my mouse not working, but I just found the Samus Banner lying in my Folder. So I figured, why is it not up here? So please C'n'C. =D
