Hello everyone, and welcome to our second Spotlight Saturday discussion, where we talk about one Pokemon in the Pokemon video games [spin offs included]
This time, Gardevoir won't be here with us since this week's Pokemon simply scares her to death.
It is the new 6gen master sword : Aegislah.
With a unique type, design, move and even base stats, Aegislah simply cannot be compared to any other Pokemon in the franchise.
Aegislah can use 2 different base sets: one is defensive and the other offensive by simply switching its base defensives stats with its offensive stats. Aegislah is extremely bulky but after attacking it becomes very strong yet very frail. For this, GF didn't have enough and decided to bring him the King's Shield move to protect it from attacking, come back to its defensive stance AND hurt a little to any Pokemon targeting it with a contact move.
You'd think GF would have stopped right there but.. not quite.
-Aegislah has a wonderful move pool. Priority move Shadow Sneak, Boosting Swords Dance and Autotomize, Sacred Sword Wide Guard Shadow Ball Flash Cannon Head Smash and Pursuit.
-Aegislash's typing gives him 3 immunities and 9 resistance.
With all of these good qualities, it is no wonder why Aegislah is so good in both OU and VGC metagames.
In fact, Aegislah was considered so powerful and overcentralized that it got banned from OU.
(there was an attempt to bring it back but it didn't work).
But enough with competitive stuff, if you focus on the design you can't ignore how cool this sword Pokemon looks, especially in its shiny forme :
