Help Staple Cards for a Dragon Deck

In the process of creating a dragon deck. It seems tricky, since most dragon moves require various energies to perform and a lot of them. So far, the only necessities I can think of to make the deck succeed are Professor's Letter x4, Double Dragon Energy x4, and Energy Retrieval x4.

What other cards may be of benefit? Most moves will require fire, water, pyschic, and/or electric energy.

If you'd like to know the exact dragon cards, I can post them.

Special charge to recycle the DDE. I'd suggest Weakness policy, but I play a lot of Rainbow Road. Yeah, it'd be interesting to see what Dragons you're throwing together, they usually are teched in to other decks (Xerneas Break, Darkrai) although Giratina on its own is probably a tier two deck.

Moved from the Deck Garage to the TCG Help & Advice as the Deck Garage is for posting your full 60-card decklists. ~bbninjas

I know this most definitely is not the best way to build a deck, but I like to have a variety of my favorite basic/EX pokemon within a certain type (I don't find it fun having like 3 greninjas and all of its previous stages). No more than 10 pokemon in my decks and none are repeats. That said, there are 14 that I am choosing from. They are listed below:

1) Dialga EX 65/101 (180 HP, psychic and steel energies)
2) Hydreigon EX 62/108 (180 HP, psychic and dark energies)
3) Giratina EX 57/98 (170 HP, psychic and grass energies)
4) Latios EX 58/108 (170 HP, psychic and water energies)
5) Dragonite EX 74/111 (180 HP, grass and electric energies)
6) Palkia EX 66/101 (180 HP, grass and water energies)
7) Druddigon 17/20 (110 HP, water and fire energies)
8) White Kyurem 102/149 (130 HP, water and fire energies)
9) Kingdra EX 73/124 (170 HP, water and electric energies)
10) Rayquaza EX 85/124 (170 HP, fire and electric energies)
11) Reshiram 63/108 (130 HP, fire and electric energies)
12) Zekrom 64/108 (130 HP, fire and electric energies)
13) Flygon EX XY61 (170 HP, grass and fighting energies)
14) Garchomp EX XY167 (180 HP, water and fighting energies)

Interesting - absolutely, the most important thing is having fun, finding a deck you enjoy playing, but most of the top tier decks run at least two of all of their attacking pokemon. I don't know that I've ever seen a Dragon Box deck like you're proposing, it'd be very interesting to see how it does. It definitely could work, there are a lot of good dragons like Hydreigon, Salamence, and Giratina that you could throw together. I also was assuming that when you were talking about a dragon deck, that you were talking about dragon types ... but you're actually going with actual dragons of various types!

So of the ones you have listed, I'd say Hydreigon, Giratina, Latios, Dragonite, and Rayquaza are the best individual cards but may not have the best synergy together as they need different types of energy. Good luck, if you do manage to put together a decent Dragon Box, please post to the garage, I'd like to see it.

I only play against friends. My main deck is a water deck that is primarily weak to grass. But if one of my friends were to use a grass deck, I'd need a back up. I thought a dragon deck would be a neat alternative. Steel was another option, but dragon types are just undeniably cooler.

The pokemon I listed are all labeled as a dragon type on their cards. It's just that their attacks require different types of energies, which is going to make things difficult. I will definitely post if I can make a deck that manages to win a few times!

Have a list:

Double Dragon Energy's - self explanatory
Hydreigon Ex - Free retreat (or close) helps
1 x Latios Ex - A controversial choice, but can lead to dunks
Reshiram - Good energy acceleration and takes advantage of Hydreigon Ex
