I used to play pokemon card when I had 12 years old (Im 21 now), haha I had the pre constructed red deck and a bunch of cards, now....

I have a little cousin (11 years old now), I want to give him a pre constructed as a birthday present, and I'll be buying on for myself so I can teach him how to play.

what are the difference between the colors?? I mean the play-style
I remember red used to discard a lot of energy cards to attack and I dont to give him stuff like that.
am I right ? what are the main color differences ?

thanks =)

Color differences are the types of Pokemon.

Red= Fire
White= Colorless
Blue= Water
Purple= Psychic
Brown= Fighting
Green= Grass
Black= Darkness
Gray (or silver)= Metal
Yellow= Lightning

So these are the color differences. Each type gives the Pokemon a certain weakness, and certain resistance. But, of course, there is a chance that the Pokemon does not have a weakness or resistance.

Fire Pokemon tend to have powerful attacks that discard energy
Colorless is sort of just a damager, not much.
Water often times have some sort of spread/snipe attack.
Psychics often have some Special Conditions involved with their attacks.
Fighting types do a lot of damage, but usually involves a condition (like flips)
Grass types are usually fast and have good healing.
Darkness types include many different effects (like not being able to attack.)
Lightning types, much like the Fire types, discard energy to do high damage
I don't really know about Metal... seeing how I don't see it much.
