If my active is afflicted by any status condition can I retreat it?

ok, and if I retreat my active with confusion would that cure the confunsion?

It depends on the status condition.

You may not retreat if your active Pokémon is Asleep or Paralyzed. You may retreat it if you are Burned, Confused, or Poisoned.
