For the mods:
There isn't really a tournament report subsection any more, so I wasn't sure where to put this thread. Please move this if needed. Sorry for any inconvenience.
I should explain store championships to most of you, since you guys don't normally have it. Store Championships, is held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, by a tournament Center called Gnome Games. It's a fairly big tournout [normally], and it's like any other tournament, BR's, Cities, etc. You need a modified deck, and a decklist, but this tournament does not affect our premeir ratings. I think I got everything.
Oh, and the winner of each age division wins a box of HG/SS Undaunted.
So I was looking forward to stores this year, as I had taken second in my last year in seniors, and had a decent shot at this one. Oh wait a second, we had the lamest turnout ever. when I was in seniors, we had 5 rounds, cut to top 4. This year, in masters, we had 3 rounds, cut to top 2. hooray for lame turnouts. Anyways, I decided to play Palkia Lock, as I had tested it for a while, and my list was fairly decent. We got started around 10:30, so off we went.
Round 1, Palkia lock [me] vs Donphan Flygon w/ Nidoqueen tech
I got the upper hand early, as I killed her Spiritomb start with Splashing Turn, and she couldn't get any energies out. She was able to stall with an active Flygon, however, and I couldn't kill it. I Psychic Binded, and made her wait a turn to play Uxie, but I was stupid enough to play Cyrus and go for an Energy Gain instead of a Power Spray. -.- I also leveled up my Palkia G for no good reason at all. Those were play mistakes number one and two. She gets to use Set Up, and draws 5 cards, which gets her deck fully set up. She rips the DCE, and Flygon Lv. X and Extreme Attacks my benched Palkia G LV. X. I couldn't really recover after this. I used Ambipom G to mess her energies up, but she got a Donphan Prime out and KO'd it. Now by this time, I had a Dialga G out, with the level X in hand, and she was healing with Nidoqueen, and had attatched Expert Belt to her Flygon Lv. X. I should have sent up the dialga, leveled up, and forced her to kill it with extreme attack, so I could KO the E-belted Flygon. But instead, I sent up Palkia G, and did Pearl Breath, and she proceeded to Power Swing me to death. Play mistake number three. She pretty much swept me from here.
0-1
Round 2- Palkia Lock vs Umbreon [HS Undaunted]
It was annoying to have to play this game w/o my LV. X's. Umbreon's moonlight Fang prevents all damage done to it by pokemon with Poke Powers/Poke Bodies, but I did work around it. I spread to his bench a bit with Palkia G, and I played around with Second Strike on Dialga G Lv. X for a good few prize cards. I then got Palkia G LV. X out, and sniped stuff for game.
1-1
Round 3- Palkia Lock vs Gengar/Vileplume
I got the upper hand quick, and his luck was bad. I had used Giratina Let Loose to ruin his start, and Psychic Binded and Deafen locked him all on turn 1. He couldn't really do much, and poltergeist barely hit my Dialga G's for anything at all. Dialga G Lv. X shut off Vileplume's power, once I finally topdecked it after about 7 turns, and he really couldn't do anything about it. He flipped 2 tails on fainting spell to make matters worse, and I just swept his pokemon.
2-1
so I go 2-1, and missed the finals on resistance. For those of you who care, the finals was DialgaChompRay vs Blaziken/Heatran. DialgaChompRay won the finals 2-0, and Austin Zettel takes home the box of boosters. Also after the tournament, I decided to buy 2 random packs of Rising Rivals. I pulled a RH Roserade GL. Then, Chuck Lambert [the guy I faced last round with Gengar/Vileplume] bought 1 random pack, and pulls Luxray GL LV. X. wow. hooray for him. -________-
Props:
2-1 [winning record in masters is all I cared about]
winning Undaunted PR Sleeves
pulling RH Roserade GL
Austin winning Masters
Preventing the Tate family from sweeping all 3 age divisions
Slops:
Chuck Lambert pulling Luxray GL LV. X
no top cut
Chuck Lambert pulling Luxray GL LV. X
Pokeman and Mr619 being lame and not showing up
Chuck Lambert pulling Luxray GL LV. X
Having a small turnout, and only having 3 rounds and a top 2 cut
Chuck Lambert pulling Luxray GL LV. X
and, oh yeah,
Chuck Lambert pulling Luxray GL Lv. X
