I'm gonna try for my professor test really soon to help run the league in my area anyone have any tips/ things I should study for the test? Also whats the test like?

Definitely have the Compendium open during the test (current version and possible older ones too as they ask questions about older cards). It provides all important erratas to cards as well as the tricky situations that can come up with certain mechanics. You can Google search for it.

Lookng over Tournament Procedure and Rules document as well as the Penalty Guidelines can't hurt. These are all references you can access on the Pokemon official website. Good luck!

I honestly feel it is better to study from the Compendium, but not take the test with it open. You aren't always going to have access to the Compendium. You may not score as high without it open, but at least you have a better understanding of your skills.

Every question that involves card rulings it gives the text of the cards. This is just like how you ask to see the cards when players have a question. The last time I had taken it, it was more up to date questions than it used to be, not that it affected me much considering that I've been judging over 5 years.

Be aware that the test is timed. You get 45 minutes I believe, but I never take that long. If you do not pass the exam, there is a brief period you have to wait before you can take the exam again. It will tell you which ones you got wrong, but will not tell you the correct answers unless you passed the exam with at least an 80%. The last time I took it I got a 95%. One of the two questions I missed involved tournament organizer responsibilities so I didn't care much since I'm not a Tournament Organizer.~KA

While the Compendium is very helpful to study, you can't have it open while taking the test because having another window open results in automatic failure. (I've learned this from experience)

...I've had the Compendium AND all the Tourney Rules documents open in separate tabs when taking the Professor test and I have never run into an issue like this. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong.

Back to the topic at hand, when I take the test, I have them open, but I only look up the answers to questions I don't know/am not sure about (which is never more than 3). The first time I took the test I read the Compendium all the way through (it took about 2 hours), then closed the tab out and took it from memory (I got an 82.5%, not bad for first time).

And yes...you CAN have it open while taking the test, but that doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD. If you're looking up the answers for all the questions in the test, then you probably will do terribly in an actual tournament situation as player or judge.

Having it open /=/ Using it on every question.

Years ago, errata were more necessary with the older and more conflicting questions. But it's better to be safer than sorry and have to scramble to find it should you might need to double check something. Idk, it's just worked for me for years but everyone does have their own way of doing things I guess.

Also, yes. You are most certainly allowed to have it open...
