A group of friends is running a small tourney using only the Sun & Moon cards we've collected so far. Everyone has gotten an SM booster box, all 3 PCDs, and ~8 more boosters.
Only cards from Sun/Moon are allowed. Additionally the variety of UR and up I have is limited (see bottom).
My idea was to run Golduck, a really efficient attacker in the format, with some big finishers using the extra energy drops I get using Golduck. So far I have:
Pokémon (11):
Supporters (13):
Plan:
Pull energy with a Bruxish, set up 1-2 Golducks, then finish with 1-2 Tauros and/or Lapras. Switch helps a ton in the limited format, and makes Lapras' "wait" attack suck less.
Notes:
The amount of energy in the deck pains me, but I've tried running fewer and it just runs better with more energy. There isn't any hand-chucking in the format to get through your deck efficiently, so everyone's top-decking the whole match. The deck always loves more energy, and this amount felt better.
My main concern is running against a grass deck. I'd really like to tech in some Decidueye hate, but I'm scared to try a 2nd energy type when Golduck requires water. Also Tauros really wants DCE, but he's the only one that can use it.
Is this even a good deck to try in the format? Should I try something else?
Cards Available:
GX I have: 2 Tauros GX, Lapras GX, Primarina GX, Inciniroar GX, Espeon GX. I have most common/uncommon/rares, and should be able to trade for any.
Any feedback or other deck ideas are appreciated!
