Ruling Super Energy Retrieval

I'm about to purchase some cards so need a clarification before I do. Since the discard is public knowledge, I couldn't play super energy retrieval(can't post a scan because I'm on a phone) knowing there isn't any cards in my discard? Also, prism energy counts as any energy type correct? But does it count as a plasma energy if attached to a basic?

You'd have to have at least one (basic, of course, again, says on the card lol) Energy in the discard pile in order to play Superior Energy Retrieval because the discard pile is public knowledge and you can't play a card that would have no effect. (Also, as a reminder since the text is on the card, you can't bring back an Energy that you discarded using the card.)

Prism Energy, while attached to a Basic Pokemon provides every type of Energy (only one at a time though), yes. Plasma is not a 'type' of Energy, it is a Special Energy card that provides Colorless Energy as its type. The types are Grass, Fire, Water, Lightning, Fighting, Psychic, Dark, Metal, Colorless, and Dragon (if there was a Basic Dragon Energy card made). Those are the ones that Prism provides.

dmaster out.
