I only have 1 of the new Super Rod:

But 2 of the old Super Rods:

If I used the new Super Rod as a reference, would I be able to use the old Super Rods in a 2011-12 Modified deck? Their effects are vastly different, but the name of the card is the same.

I'm pretty sure that you could. You just need to have the reference with you. The same should apply with stuff like Great Ball.

Agreed. All that matters is that the name is the same. As I side note I wish they would stop reprinting cards with the same effect but with different names....

I thought if the effect was different than the original, you couldn't use it even with a reference. The effect of Super Rod is different than the original.

You are allowed to use it as long as the reference is from the proper set or newer.~KA

Nope, the only thing that matters is that the name is the same. This is why it's legal to use older Great Balls provided you have a reference handy.
