Ruling Superior Energy Retrieval & Battle Compressor

hi, im playing archies blastoise and I was wondering with superior energy retrieval, can I just get one or two energies instead of all four( if I have three, or more in my discard)? because ive been playing like I can, and that is almost all the consistence as my deck has. please answer asap. and same with battle compressor with my deck
