Ruling Supporters/Trainers that look for Level X's

Just to brag for a moment, at our local prerelease event our group of three landed 4 Level X cards (2 Empoleons, 2 Infernapes). Yee-ha!

Now that they are here this is the big question I have: It seems to me that the way that almost all of the current trainers which look for pokemon (celio's, petm, masterball, etc.) are worded, one couldn't use them to pull a level X card. The one exception I see is Wally's Training. And isn't it true that one may only put a level X card into play onto the Active pokemon? Can one advance to the level X on the same turn the pokemon evolved to it's current stage?
On a side note, has Wally's training been issued in anything since Emerald, because if not that means it is certainly going to be rotated out in a few months.

What has been the official ruling on this subject, I am sure it is going to wind up in the FAQ section in very short order. I apologize if there is already a thread along these lines and I simply missed it.

Search your deck for a basic pokemon or evolution card (excluding pokemon ex), show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand. shuffle your deck afterwards.

I was under the distinct impression that the level X cards were not considered either a basic or evolution card, that they were kinda a whole new category of their own: that while they are a pokemon card they were specifically a card that leveled up a pokemon. why would celio's network work then and not PETM? except regarding basic and ex's the phrasing is the same.

Professor Elm's Training Method:
Search your deck for an evolution card, show it to your opponent, and put it in your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.

again, i didn't think the level X card is considered an evolution card. and actually now that i have thought about it some more, i'm not so sure that wally's training would work either.
 
Any old cards that say basic pokemon or evolution card are supposed to be read to say Pokemon, as new cards will say search for a pokemon. So, with this Celio's searches for a non-ex pokemon, which a level X is.
 
Yeah, don't take those cards literally anymore. ANy card that says to search for a basic or evo is now just "pokemon." cards that just search for basic or just search for evos couldn't get Lv. x cards.
