(Is this the right way, Kecleon-X? If so I'll put our other son's deck in an other topic tomorrow.)

Close! The format is actually going to be NXD-on for this deck in particular, as Mega Blastoise is already out. I've made some minor edits to coincide with the rules with minor spelling of the names wrong, but other than that, you're good to go! Thanks for using the template! :D

By the way, you need to put in what general strategem he uses when using the deck. For instance, in a game, what does he hope to achieve with what Pokemon? Be sure to do that soon! Thanks! ~Kecleon

RE: Our surfdudes deck: M Blastoise EX

To make room for Blastoise EX and Mega Blastoise EX, it's simple. Your son has too many energy in his deck as well as too many weak, unusable Basic Pokemon. I would recommend this:

-1 Zorua
-1 Furfrou
-9 Darkness Energy
+2 Blastoise EX
+2 Mega Blastoise EX

I would take out the 9 Darkness Energy since really no Pokemon except Zorua use it and, since he can only attach 1 Energy Card per turn, having 9 Darkness Energy would not be the best utilization of your Energy attachment

He also has several trainers that are virtually useless so if you have the cards for it, I would also recommend:
-4 Cheren
-2 Tierno
-1 Cilan
+4 Professor Juniper/Sycamore
+4 N
+1 Colress
+2 Skyla (or just 2 more Colress)

I do this because Cilan and Tierno are really weak draw cards. The only allow you to draw three cards, which is a very limited amount. Cilan isn't really too great of a Supporter. Juniper and Sycamore allow to draw a fresh hand of 7 cards, N is a very good early game Supporter, Colress is a good supporter late game, allowing you to draw up to 10 cards (although the average is 6 to 8 cards), and Skyla can be useful when you need an Ultra Ball, Switch, Eviolite, or whatever Trainer cards you need.

Also, Pokeball is a pretty unreliable card so take out 2 of those for 2 more Ultra Ball.
-2 Pokeball
+2 Ultra Ball

It's nice to see that you're posting on the forums. If you need any more help with your sons' decks or your own if you start playing, just look me up on Pokebeach. Hope your sons have great success with their Blastoise EX and Venusaur EX decks in the future and, as always, I hope this helps.

P.S. To answer your question to Kecleon-X, I you pretty much have it done right, just put the setlist next to the name of each Pokemon. You only have to do this for Pokemon, not trainers or energy. Other than that, yep it's all OK. just remember to post your strategy after you've listed all the cards.

^ Keep in mind, however, he means to use his Shadow Circle to remove his weakness, so they aren't entirely useless, albeit not worth devoting nine cards in your deck, but still.

Does your son have any Virbank City Gym? If so, then I would highly recommend you place them in there, as to heighten the ten in between turns taken from Hypnotoxic Laser, to thirty in between turns. It's really nasty to face.

Might I ask which Delphox you are using? There are two printed, and judging by your line of Delphox, it might be the one that came out of a theme deck prior. Does yours have an ability called Mystical Fire, or two attacks?

Thank you all!
I'm starting to enjoy the cards and maybe I'll be starting my own deck someday. ;-)

Setlists? Are those the 3 letters they have to put on their decklist when they play a tournament?
I don't have any strategy's yet, but I'll ask the kids if they have one. Maybe when I get better at it, I can add that too.

The kids are trying to swap a few good trainer cards today! :D

The Delphox he uses had the Will-O-Wisp and the Fire Blast on it.

Now I will stop playing with the cards ( ;) ) and go off to an important meeting, see you later! :D

They weren't able to switch cards today... :(
But they did earn an Skyla and an N
We're trying to buy/swap a few cards online, but it's hard to find someone to swap with.
Maybe at the tournament next Sunday.

Yes. The setlist is the three letters. Examples are DEX (Dark Explorers), KSS (Kalos Starter Set), PLS (Plasma Storm), etc. The Delphox that your son has in his deck is the worse of the 2 Delphox that are currently printed. Try looking for the Delphox from XY instead. It is much more useful. Delphox XY's ability, Mystical Fire, allows you to draw cards until you have 6 cards in your hand once per turn this is a very solid draw ability and can help once your opponent plays a late game N and brings you down to just a couple cards. I would recommend switching the current Delphox with two Delphox from XY. I would also recommend thinning the Fennekin-Braixen-Delphox line. Down to 2 Fennekin rather than 4, 2 Braixen rather than 3, and keeping 2 Delphox from XY if your son can find them.

-2 Fennekin
-1 Braixen

Also, to kinda make extra space and to speed up evolution into Delphox, a Stage 2, I would take out the 2 Braixen and instead play 2 Rare Candy. Rare Candy allows you to skip the Braixen evolution and go straight to Delphox, evolving into a Stage 2 directly from a Basic. Plus, Rare Candy is also searchable with Skyla. :)

+2 Rare Candy

To make up the now missing 60th slot, I would add a 4th Ultra Ball. And since Great Ball isn't too reliable, I would take the 1 copy of it out and putting in a 3rd Hypnotoxic Laser. If you go the Laser route. You'll need a 4th Laser and 2 copies of Virbank City Gym. Virbank City Gym ups the power of poison to 30 damage through poison in between turns rather than 10. (Both Hypnotoxic Laser and Virbank City Gym are available in the Plasma Storm expansion by the way)

Hope this helps,

This is the Deck we're trying to get so he can play on sunday. :D

I'll try to add the letters when I have all the cards.

I just learned to build a deck, I'll try to figure out how the game works next! :D

I like the deck skeleton so far, but if you add in Rare Candy, there's really no need for 2 Braixen. Really you only need a 2-1-2 line (meaning 2 Fennekin, 1 Braixen, and 2 Delphox) because Rare Candy allows you to skip the Stage 1 Evolution and the 1 Braixen is only there in case a Rare Candy is prized.
So...
-1 Braixen
+1Hypnotoxic Laser

Laser is a consistency card meaning that if you run them at all, you'll need 3-4 of them. You kinda wanna make sure you have em when you need em. The energy looks good but since this is a Blastoise based deck, try exchanging a couple fire energy for some water energy.

Hope this helps,
LoneWolf2113

They want to try and swap for an hypnotoxic laser.
His brother also want more of them in his deck.

How many energies do you recommend swapping?

-1 Braixen
-2 Virbank City Gym

+3 Water energy

(We got all the cards on time accept for the 2 extra Virbank City Gym cards, so this is final for Sunday. ;-) )

Well since you added 3 Water, I'd say at this point, 2. That will put you at equal fire and water energy counts and should gI've Blastoise enough to work with. However, 17 Energy is quite a lot in a competitive deck. Usually you want around 8-14 or 15 so I would consider revisin this list. If you're looking for a good playable Mega Blastoise EX list, search for ''The Top Cut''. They have lots of helpful videos on decks both food and bad.

Hope this helps,
