This is a thread to talk about the Tales series.

For those who don't know, the Tales series (sometimes called the Tales of series, hence the name of the games) is an RPG series created by Namco (who eventually merged with Bandai to form Bandai/Namco) and is widely popular. The Tales games have very wonderful music and great in-deph stories, they really make you feel for the characters and their lives. They also often have funny skits and side events.

I myself started out with Vesperia, which is probably the best game to start with. (though I can't say for sure because I've only played/beat Symphonia/Vesperia/Abyss/Graces ƒ )

Played and beat most of these, Symphonia is an amazing game and easily one of the best games for the GCN. Still haven't played Graces f but that's probably because I don't own a PS3.

Don't ever play Dawn of the New World.

Yeah Symphonia is pretty good. I love Sheena and Zelos is hilarious. Have you watched the anime yet? I can't wait to see the final part!

The only reason I have not to DotNW is because I got it spoiled.

Play Graces f if you get a PS3! IMO, it's best one next to Vesperia.

Even if you didn't have it spoiled I wouldn't recommend it, especially after playing Symphonia. Basically take all the stuff you liked about Symphonia, take it out, and put the result in Symphonia's world and that's pretty much it.

The one thing I did like was the fact that Emil was voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch.

Graces f wasn't BAD, per say... I just thought it was kind of "eh" for a Tales game. It did introduce a lot of new concepts and bring back an idea or two, but the story was pretty predictable, and the main character...well...you'll find out after you beat the final boss of the adult arc.

I was going to play New Game +, but then I realized I didn't have enough grade to keep everything I wanted, and I figured it would require too much time.

Who is your favorite character? Mine is definitely Pascal! =3 "Oh hey, Cheria! Are ya all done zappin' the wounded?" However, Sophie has some of my favorite lines; especially "We have to look for the butt, Cheria. It's the only way out." and "Peaches look like little butts! Especially Cheria's!"
 
Played with a team of Pascal, Hubert, Cheria, and Sophie in my initial game. I controlled Pascal because I love me some magic. Of course, using Pascal after using Rita is like night and day; it was hard to get used to her artes. Infernal Prison was like the most disappointing thing ever :x

In my ng+ I'm using Sophie, Cheria, Malik, and Hubert, but I think I'm going to swap him out for Richard once I get to L&L again. I'm playing as Asbel (as Richard) right now since Sophie's out right now and man, Richard is fun. He reminds me of Lloyd. His Mystic Artes are pretty rad, too.

I have gone so fast through ng+ because I bought increased field movement speed and I skip all the cutscenes since I've seen them already (and L1 sets me on the right course if I forget what I have to do).

Also I can't for the life of me think of a time when Sophie had the chance to see Cheria's butt. How does she know it looks like a peach?

they do look like little butts though

There was the time when they had to swim through the sea shore cave and had to change their clothes because they were wet.
 
Oh, yeah, that's right, isn't it.

Getting ready for L&L again by doing inn requests up the jing jang and making sure I get everyone's level 3 before I crush the end boss under my boot.
 
Excited about Xillia...I hope Xillia two comes out not that long after the first. I wonder if the English version will remove some of the glitches found in the game. I kind of wish the level cap is a bit higher though.

I am still a bit surprised that they decided to remake TOH before TOtT o.o. Hearts is still pretty recent. I do not like how some of the cool Link Artes and Starlight was removed >_<
 
I played Tales Of Symphonia before and really enjoyed it, but I haven't played any of the other games in this series. I did manage to achieve the 100 hit combo without having a second player assist me which was pretty awesome.

Also I have mixed feelings about the new Symphonia release. On the one hand, it's Tales of Friggin Symphonia, nuff said, right? On the other hand, Dawn of the New World is one of the most disappointing games ever and I'm really hoping they give it the f treatment and pimp it out with some rad PS3 exclusives like a world map and original voice actors. :[
 
No, I didn't. I don't really keep up with Tales news. Last I heard, PS3 Vesperia wasn't getting released stateside. But hey, more Tales can never be bad.
 
Yes!! I finally found the Tales thread!
I have been looking forever for this thread. It was sorely needed in my life. Now I can release my inner fangirl!

My favorite game that I've played so far is Tales of the Abyss. It honestly even trumps Pokemon, despite the creep named Jade.
The graphics are immersive, the music is beautiful and always fits the mood, and the story is unexpected yet logical and fun. I can say that this is the best game I have ever played in my life.

Since playing the game, I've scoured the Internet for places where I can buy the next Tales games on my list.
1. Tales of Vesperia
2. Tales of Destiny 2 (Eternia)
3. Tales of Destiny
4. Tales of Xillia

This list is based on promises to my sibling and people online.
The list of games I'm most interested in, however:
1. Tales of Innocence
2. Tales of Vesperia
3. Tales of Graces f
4. Tales of Destiny 2 (Eternia)

As for Tales of Innocence, does anyone know if there is an English option in the game? Or at least English subtitles?

So since I last posted in this thread two years ago I have added a few new games to my have-played list, most recently Zestiria which was kinda cool. Still trying to get strong enough to handle the postgame but it'll happen eventually.

Real shame we didn't get the PS3 version of Vesperia.

Never played Innocence so I can't really answer your question. Google can probably tell you though. Tales of Hearts R has no English audio but all the text is in English, so if it's anything like that then...probably not.

Does Tales of Hearts have English words? Not Hearts R, just Hearts.

I really wanted the PS3 port instead of it being a 360 exclusive. More so because it apparently has more features than the 360 version. I know there was come work being done by some people to make a translated version of it to be played on the PS3.

So, I'm rather curious to who has played Zestiria yet. I'm finally around to getting it downloaded off of Steam after I pre-ordered it. If you have played it, how is it so far?
