Talkin' Baseball: The MLB Discussion Thread

Very recently. Either earlier today or yesterday they would have found out about it.

In other news, the poo crew Brew Crew sweeps the reigning world champion Giants and are on a 4 game win streak. The rapture is expected to start in any moment now.

The Cardinals took Game 1 of the series against the Phillies as Wainwright outdueled Hamels, while the Phillies won a rain-shortened Game 2 with Halladay looking like the Doc of old against Jaime Garcia. The rubber game is tonight as Lance Lynn takes on Cliff Lee.

Houston Astros are beating the New York Yankees 9-1

lol!

Toronto's season is abysmal so far; 9-17 almost through the first month of the season. These are going to be hard games to get back during the stretch run.

The Angels are right up there in terms of flops (9-16). The Angels offense has scored enough to win some games, but their pitching is suffering with Weaver on the DL. You know you're in trouble when CJ Wilson is your staff ace (though he was as well with the Rangers in 2010 and 2011, but he performed much better).

Yeah, the Angels and Blue Jays are total disappointments. Ironically, both were projected by many to be the AL representatives in the World Series.

You can call the Nats somewhat of a disappointment for a team in the NL, because they were projected by some to be a part of the World Series. However, their offense has faltered a bit without Zimmerman, and the Braves own them right now.

And Toronto gave up their most prized prospect in Travis d'Arnaud. Who would have probably been called up and became the every-day starter at catcher had they not traded for R.A. Dickey.

J.P. Arencibia is okay, but he's a power guy and can't hit for average.

Rangers beat Red Sox 7-0. 18 hits and a solid outing by Derek Holland. The rangers had a terrible week with 4 loses in 5 games. The 2 series combined were 3-4.

Especially if you looked at the Toronto-Miami Marlins trade. Toronto gave up two high-ranking prospects; but neither were Travis d'Arnaud.

Yeah, d'Arnaud was touted as a Posey-type catcher who can help resurrect a struggling franchise. Along with Wright, Harvey, and Wheeler, the Mets have something to work with in the future. D'Arnaud just has to stay healthy.

They were saying he was coming off surgery and already had a few surgeries despite being 23.

I think Toronto was spooked a bit and unsure if they called him up, he would stay healthy. While with Arencibia, he's stayed healthy, and I think they were wanting to roll with J.P. who has proven himself to be a good catcher.

He [Arencibia] just can't hit for average.

Bad luck Matt Harvey

>Has perfect game broken up in the 7th inning
>Still pitches 9 innings of shutout ball
>Mets offense score zero runs
>Mets walk off an inning later, Harvey gets the no-decision

J.A Happ was released from the hospital a day after taking a wicked hit to the head on a line-drive by Tampa Bay's Desmond Jennings.

Ouch poor guy, hope he recovers so he can help his team.

Kinda hate it when people get hurt during any type of game but then again its sports anything can happen.

The MLB needs to act fast and give the pitchers some protection. I know, most pitchers are adamant about wearing protective caps/helmets because they're worried about control and how they pitch.

But what's more important; your ERA or your life?

Life is far more important than ERA, I'd vaule life above everything else.
