Standard Talonflame Break quick win/lose deck

Hi all, this is my first post here. I'm looking to make this deck more consistent in events, it currently wins around 50% in events and 65% on the standard ladder.

As you can see, it's all about getting a break up asap and keeping it alive. When I started building it, I had only two talonflames and one break, it still worked. As the deck stands, it's more than fine for the ladder, but what should I aim for in terms of events, more basics, different trainers? I've tried the Winona heavy deck, but feel it's only marginally more reliable. I still only have two break cards, but could trade for the third

Just curious, how are you getting wins when you have at most two playable Pokémon all game?

As far as card recommendations go, I would increase the count of your line so you can have more than two in a game. You'll want a full four VS Seeker. Also, drop the town map to 1 since you can only ever use 1 in a game and the rest would just clog your hand. Potion is considered weak so I would drop that, by having more playable Pokémon you won't need to worry about keeping one alive quite as much.

What are the Bent Spoon and weakness policy meant to counter? Unless there's a specific reason to your local meta I would drop that. Giovanni's scheme is really not very good either, use a Kukui if you really want the extra damage supporter.

I don't see Sycamore, you'll want several of those. While I like Wally in some decks, since you only ever have 1 stage to evolve from I would drop him for evosoda instead. Same effect, just can't be done turn 1, but it's not your supporter for turn either.

I'm curious to hear if you're getting a full 6 prize game or if the higher winrate online is just from people conceding and what decks you're facing. Also, by "events" do you mean the online tournaments or live events you're attending?

Very interesting and creative deck! I would recommend commiting to 4 of one tool rather than using multiple tools. In this case I'd recommend bursting balloon BP combined with 1 or 2 eco arm AOR. I'd also recommend going max candy PLB and t-mail ROS for consistency reasons, I also think you should follow TheGuardian118's recommendation as well. I hope this helped, good luck with the deck!

Thanks for the feedback

Wins are fairly frequent thanks to a possible 150+ repeatable damage every turn after the break is up. Aero blitz followed by flare blitz = 190 damage, that's a possible 2 prize cards on my second turn if I can get my opponent to start first

There are 2 town maps because with such a small pool of pokemon, I sometimes need to pick them from prizes, and that can't wait

Potions might be considered weak, but if I'm against something that can hit 150+, I can't have my only pokemon carrying damage. More pokemon helps that problem, but the cost is high if starting with a 40 hp fletching, hence 80% talonflame starter chance. The tool cards cover almost every status effect and weakness, sure, bent spoon isn't required all the time, but it's saved many games, and anything lightning (hello jolteon) would be instadeath without a policy

Don't know why I haven't updated Giovanni's for Kukui yet, thanks for that

Sycamore isn't a big loss, once there's a break set up, it just discards large chunks of items I can't recover. Wally at turn one allows special energy use and negates N.

Many matches go the distance, but most people concede, especially if the second break is looming. And yes, the events I meant are those online, my son has a few physical cards and theme packs, but not enough to make a competitive deck

Max candy and mail I'll try, but I only have 2 balloons for now, and until I can field the full team, I'll settle for damage mitigation

Since you are always discarding the energy after a break attack why not play max potion to full heal without energy loss?

Hi,
I worked on talonflame.dek a while back and would like to make some input:
1) There is a 50hp fletchling available from RS. It makes a large difference when it matters.
2) My list has 2 balloons because burst balloon really is NOT a card that you play 0 or 4 of. (e.g. Talonflame is one of those cards)
3) Lightning shouldn't be a major weakness as talonflame is 1 prize. If you aren't getting OHKO'd, then you are winning; simple as that.
4) From the last point continued, you should probably aim to setup more attackers: e.g. From my list:
4 fletchling 3 fletchinder 4 talonflame 2 break 1 basic attacker.
I tried 3 fletching for a better talonflame start, but it just didn't hold up when 1 got prized. I prefer to use stage 1s over candy spam, I do ofc still play 2 rare candy, however, fully relying on the card can make the deck more bricky. 2 break, I play 2 super rod for recovery and not owning a 3rd hasn't hurt me often. (except when I misplay :(). The basic attacker, e.g. tauros-GX, is great when you miss the talonflame start, as well as because you generally won't be able to dish out 6 talonflame in a game no matter what list you play. I'm suggesting a more "solid" list (to play a full game) for if you are playing matches (e.g. tournament) where quick losses cost you, (unlike versus, where quick win/lose decks work).
Also, the fire type fletchinder can knock off tools, which comboed with lysandre, can take down lurantis/plume. 2x Lysandre also makes Decidueye decks a lot easier to beat. (Not that it was a difficult matchup)
5) There is NO justification for more than 1 town map EVER. Unless, ofc, you are playing a spin off format where the rules entail playing 4 town map or something random like that :p. In fact, I just realised that my most recent list didn't play the card at all!
6) exp. share and 1 max elixir are good ways of conserving energy.
7) Not sold on any of the tech support (except kukui).
8) You might want to consider a different/extra stadium as it hurts to be on the wrong side of parallel city. (Paint roller is always an option!)
The important thing of course, is to have fun and keep trolling those tryhards on the versus ladder!
