• When creating a thread in the Deck Garage, make sure that you post one deck per thread, you use the correct prefix, you have the set name/card number next to each card, you give a strategy for non-metagame decks, and give translations for all cards not available in English.

    When posting in a thread, be sure to explain all your suggestions thoroughly. Additionally, do not ask for advice in another member's thread.

Standard Talonflame Break

Hey! I'm new to the Pokemon TCG, and I'm thinking about building Talonflame Break as my first foray into the new Standard format. It's super cheap, relatively fun and easy to play, and seems like a pretty ideal deck to get started with.

I currently have 2 slots lefts to fill, and would appreciate some help filling them, as well any other advice about the current inclusions.

The general strategy of the deck is to evolve into Talonflame Break as quickly as possible, whether that's via Talonflame's 'Gale Wings' ability or accelerating via Winona and Wally. Powering up Talonflame Break with Burning Energy let's you use Flare Blitz for 150 damage a turn, and the deck needs plenty of ways to retrieve and recycle energy. I like Volcanion as a way to reduce mulligans, and to further accelerate energy accumulation during slower games.
