Talonflame (Steam Siege) has been paired up nicely with multiple decks, one being Greninja Break, Sylveon, newly released from Guardians Rising is a fairy type that evolves from eevee, and is paired up Nicely with Drampa GX, but which one is better? Well let's look at the facts:
(the slashes indicate the break from Talon flame and Sylveon GX's stats.
Pokemon: Talonflame / Sylveon GX
Stage: 2, But is a basic with it's ability / 1
Type: Colorless / Fairy
Retreat: Free / 2
Evolution: Talonflame Break / None
HP: 130 (170 with break) / 200
Damage: 40, or 150 (break only) / 110
Prize cards: 1 / 2
Cards drawn: 2 / 3
Ok now that we've looked at these factors, what do you think? I think Talonflame is a better option. You can stick him in any decks, and gains a fire type if evolved into it's break card. Talon flame has a free retreat, and only gives up one prize card. Sure it only finds 2 cards, but that's fine because he's also doing 40 damage, 70 with a choice band, 90 with kukui. Also his break has a pretty interesting attack. having a free retreat cost means you can easily retreat talonflame when you're ready to start attacking with a better pokemon. 130 HP is actually a pretty good HP to have on your first turn! Sylveon does have better HP, but it's a stage 1, where as Talonflame can be counted as a basic. You give up 2 prize cards, yet do more damage. Then again, Talonflame normally isn't going to be your main attacker. You're a fairy type so it will be hard to tech it into some decks, talon flames' a colorless so it's much easier. Eeveelutions eevee makes it easier to evolve up, but now you're playing two cards (eevee and sylveon GX) for every one talon flame you're playing, takes up space. Drawing 3 cards is nice, but Sylveon GX takes up too much space in common decks, and Talon flame is preferred in my opinion.
