Hi,
I have developpeed an ipad application to create TCG decks.
I'd like to use pokebeach.com card scan in it.
Do you have any restriction about that ?

Please let me know.

Discuss the iPad application here, and your feelings and opinions on it. ~EspeonROX.

RE: Ipad Pokemon application

I'm interested in this. I don't know if you could actually use the scans if you're making money off the app, but you'll have to ask WPM about that.

RE: Ipad Pokemon application

I doubt WPM will be ok with it. Its not direct advertising, and he rarely approves of money. Usually, he just wants enough money to pay off the site... nothing more. I doubt he'll be ok with it, but you may ask him. PM WITH A DESCRIPTIVE TITLE, or EMAIL WITH A DESCRIPTIVE TITLE. Perhaps you can make something work...

RE: Ipad Pokemon application

Wow. I'm interested. Sell it for 99 cents...you'd start making a killing. I've been wanting a Pokemon app for a while now.

RE: Ipad Pokemon application

I wanted to let you know that HelloPoké! (the iPad app) has been submitted to appstore.
It is free, it contains all MD-on cards and have a few deck building capabilities.
Have a look at http://2113.ch/HelloPoke/ for the first screenshots.
I hope it will be available soon on app store.

RE: Ipad Pokemon application

that is seriously awesome!
would it allow mock battle against other people who have the app?

RE: Ipad Pokemon application

This looks awesome. I know its probably a huge amount of work, but i would really encourage you to at least look in to creating a parallel iphone/ipod touch app, and maybe even pursuing the idea of battling or something like redshark. I would pay money for that.

RE: Ipad Pokemon application

Now that the application is actually working out, I'm going to move this thread.

Moved.

I noticed in the top left corner of the HelloPoke! app, it says Pokemons. But I love how it's in order of Pokemon, not series or alphabetical.

Mmm.... I can just download all scans off folders, then upload to my iphone image gallery.... Still simple enough for me :)

But neat idea...anyways :p

Are you sure you won't be violating a few copyrights or app store rules with this? Nintendo hasn't really been happy when others have used scans in their TCG emulators in the past and the App store is pretty strict...
Even if it gets approved now, changes are it'll still get pulled in the future.

Nevertheless, as an iPad owner I'd love to see an app like this in the app store, and your screenshots look pretty good as well.

I don't know about copyright infrigments, but i hope it will do the apple validation just fine.
It has gone from "waiting for review" to "in review" last friday. Wish it luck :)

Let see if it goes through app store and i'll make the iPod/iPhone version next.

If it does go through, Nintendo will pursue you with the wrath of it's legal department. You will receive a C&D for using card images. This is per a discussion of usage of art on the Professor forums.

If you were to use just card text and replicate from there, Nintendo would not pursue legal action. I would suggest removing card art immediately, as Nintendo has the right to go straight past a C&D to a lawsuit.

Application has been approved by Apple, but I don't have Pokémon International permission to use their arts, names or texts...
Anyway, I have contacted lawyers and I may find my way around.
I'll let you know.
