Gyrados @ Leftovers
Jolly
31/31/31/X/31/31
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 Def
Moxie
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Ice Fang/Stone Edge
Earthquake
Gyrados is my main offensive Pokemon. I feel like his coverage is pretty decent with his attack types. I am a huge fan of Moxie. I want to damage my opponent's enough throughout the match with status and hazards and then bring Gyrados in to start with the KOs and start building up the Moxie boosts. He is weak to electric and that's where I hope Jolteon can contribute.
Jolteon @ Life Orb
Timid
31/X/31/31/31/31
252 SpAtk, 6 SpDef, 252 Spd
Volt Absorb
Thunder Bolt
Volt Switch
Shadow Ball
HP Ice
I want to be able to bring Jolteon in to absorb any predicted electric attacks and get a free Sp Atk boost. Even if it's just to Volt Switch back out. Jolteon's movepool is so limited all he can really run is Shadow Ball ad a hidden power. I'm not sure he's the best pokemon to use and am considering switching him out, I'm just not sure for what. I'm not 100% sure if I should run Life Orb or Choice Specs. Choice Specs may hinder my ability to pull off a volt switch, but with Life Orb I don't really have the luxury of losing HP. Also not sure if I should lead off with him or not. Should I lead with him or a hazard setter? Maybe someone like Ferrothorn.
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet/Leftovers
Relaxed
31/31/31/X/31/31
252 Hp, 48 Def, 210 SpDef
Iron Barbs
Spikes
Leech Seed
Power Whip
Stealth Rock/Thunder Wave/Toxic
Ferrothorn is my main hazard Pokemon with Spikes. I have leech seed for more consistent damage and healing. Power whip so I have some sort of attacking move. My 4th slot I am having trouble deciding between Stealth Rock, Toxic and Thunder Wave. Mostly the 2 former. Jellicent will cover Ferrothorn's fire weakness and fighting weakness. I feel those 2 play off each other very well. I am also unsure if I should use Rocky Helmet or Leftovers.
Jellicent @ Leftovers
Calm
31/X/31/31/31/31
252 Hp, 252 SpDef, 6 Def
Cursed Body
Scald
Recover
Toxic/Will-O-Wisp/ Confuse Ray
Ice Beam
Ferrothorn will cover Jellicent's weakness to electric and grass, though Gligar can also take the electric attacks. I could use some help with Jellicent's weakness to Dark and Ghost though. Jellicent is my spin blocker which caught my last opponent off guard. So I have Ice Beam for coverage, Scald over Surf for the chance to burn and obvious stab attack, Recover to help stall when I use a status move. I am torn between which status move to use between Toxic and Burn.
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Impish
31/31/31/X/31/31
244 Hp, 250 Def, 16 Spd
Poison Heal
Earthquake
Subsitute/Protect
Toxic
Roost
Gliscor is another pokemon that feeds into my defensive core. Only weak to water and ice and Jellicent can cover both of those. I use Gliscor to spread Toxic, and as a physically defensive pokemon. Protect and Roost to help toxic damage build up and Earthquake for Steel pokemon who would wall him. Debating between Substitue and Protect.
Mega Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Calm
31/X/31/31/31/31
252 Hp, 252 SpDef, 6 Def
Thick Fat
Leech Seed
Giga Drain
Synthesis
Sludge Bomb/Protect
Antother wall pokemon. After most of the other team has been hit with Toxic/Burn, I can use Venusaur to wall them as the damage builds up. Plenty of self healing with a stab Sludge Bomb to avoid wasting Giga Drains. I have an open mind to switching out Venusaur for a different Mega or Different Pokemon all together.
For the most part I really like my team, except I'm not 100% on Jolteon. I am completely open to suggestions. I have Tyraniatar, Skarmory (Stealth Rock Eligible), Greninja, Scizor, Goodra, and Umbreon on my bench.
I am about to start on a Starmie as a Rapid Spinner to replace Jolteon as he can pretty much do the same thing. Also would consider Excadrill as a rapid spinner, but feel like I could use a Special Attacker on more team more than Excadrill as a physical attacker.
EDIT: I wanted to add that a friend and I battled last night. He won 2 matches with 4 Pokes left, I won 1 match with 6 Pokes left. I made some questionable decisions I want to have back, and am still trying to memorize the type effectiveness chart, but for the most part I think this team can work well.
