Welcome to the Art Request Thread!
Welcome to the brand-new Art Request Thread (or ART for short) of PokéBeach Forums. This is meant to serve as a replacement for the closed Slateport Market. Here, forum members may make an art shop in which they can take art requests from members. This thread will be able to cover everyone's needs when it comes to requesting art. Because this is a new concept, please review these rules carefully before making your own shop.
Latest Update: 2 November 2011
Section One: Main Rules
These are important rules to know for the ART. Please read through this carefully. It explains everything that you need to know about ordering art or setting up a shop for services.
- Read and know these rules
As an ART artist, reading the rules is the key to having success in this forum. It is advised that you read all sections, including those that don't apply to you. If you don't understand them, or have any questions regarding rules, please contact [smod]CMP[/smod] or [mod]safariblade[/mod].
--- - Standard Forum Rules Apply
All standard PokeBeach Forum Rules apply.
--- - Warning System
Members can be warned under the warning type of "Custom Reason" for breaking any rules in this Sub-Forum. Number of points awarded and date of expiry will vary according to the offense.
--- - Common Courtesy
All members will be expected to be courteous to all other members in this forum. Because requests are now run through PM, we ask that if a rude/vulgar/threatening/in any offensive message is sent to any member, either artist or requester, that the offending PM be forward to a staff member. In such a situation, the offender will be warned, or in severe cases, banned.
---
Section Two: Getting a Shop in the Thread
- Every Shop thread should include the following:
--- - Main Header/Shop Logo
A main header or shop logo. Each shop should have something to distinguish what their shop is called. If you need a shop header or logo, you can request one at a different shop -- of course you are also welcome to make one yourself.
--- - List of all services
Each shop should provide a clear list of all services and art forms they will offer. In addition, the shop should include at least two examples for each specific service.
--- - Include forms for all services
Each shop should include forms for every service and art form they offer. Forms may be designed to the worker/artists liking.
Section Three: Responsibilities of Artists
- ---
- Post Etiquette
Your post should be presentable. We have just offered guidelines to help with that, but it is ultimately up to you to make your shop look presentable. For the most part, we will be copying and pasting what you send to us in in your application (to now be handled through PMs, please see below).
--- - Shop Rules
Try and make a simple list of rules, in addition to these rules here, for your shop. Rules that are deemed harsh or excessive by a staff member will be removed.
--- - Probation Rule
The forum team reserves the right to put any shop which does not meet up to the standards of the Art Request Thread Rules and Guidlines under probation. In such circumstances, we will tell you what is wrong with your shop and give you approximately ONE week to fix these issues; if they are not fixed after the one week period, the shop will be closed.
--- - Fulfillment of Requests
We understand that you have responsibilities outside of the forums. However, you undertook some responsibility by opening a shop. Please try to keep this in mind -- if you can't fulfill requests in an adequate amount of time (~2 weeks), your shop will be temporarily locked. For those requesting, please PM [smod]CMP[/smod] or [mod]safariblade[/mod] if the request is over 14 days old and you have not yet heard from the artist.
--- - Communication - IMPORTANT NEW RULE
Members' requests will now come through the PM system. Because forum staff can no longer see what's happening, please stay in constant contact with us if problems arise. In addition, because forum staff will be running the ART, if any changes to your shop are to occur (changing services offered, closing shop, etc.), it is imperative to PM [smod]CMP[/smod] or [mod]safariblade[/mod] to let them know what to change. This will ensure your posts are up-to-date, resulting in happier members and artists.
Section Four: Rules for Members Requesting Art
- ---
- Know what you want
Before doing anything, get an idea of what services you'll need. An index of artists and the types of services offered will be included and ran by forum staff. Then, browse through the list of artists who offer your desired services. Always read the first post of the thread, which contains the information about the shop, the shop rules and the list of services. It is not encouraged to request from a shop without any background of what art they make.
--- - Requesting Art
Once you find an artist who offers the types of services you're interested in, feel free to make a request! To do so, please PM the artist directly. If the artist included a form, please try to utilize it. Essentially, this is no be no different than how things were ran in The Slateport Market, except PMing requests instead of posting in a shop thread.
--- - One shop at a time, please
If you post a request in a shop, please be patient. If it's taking too long for your liking or you are not satisfied with the finished product, then request elsewhere but try and refrain from posting the same exact request in multiple shop threads. If another shop is willing to do the same request, then so be it. However, remember that the artist has the right to deny your request if he or she wishes.
--- - Specific Shop Rules
Follow the shop rules of the shop you are posting in, unless it contradicts the Forum Rules. In such an event, please report the shop.
--- - Respect the Artists
Producing quality work takes time; please try to be patient. If an artist is taking a few days to fulfill a request, please don't bother him/her. Show them some respect and follow the rules. After all, they're offering a service to you.
--- - Communication
As previously stated, all requests are now to be PM'd to the artist. If any problems arise, first try to work it out amongst yourselves. However, if that is not an option, absolutely feel free to contact forum staff!
The Art Request Thread Approval System
This part of the Rules is meant to guide you through the whole process of the new approval system in the Art Request Thread.
First of all, PM your potential "shop" to either [smod]CMP[/smod] or [mod]safariblade[/mod]. If we think it meets the basic criteria and guidelines mentioned previously (see Section Two). Please follow the steps below in order to ensure the approval of your shop. We will let you know if you lack anything - and what you can do to fix it.
1: Read the Main Rules and Guidelines Section.
As an artist in the ART, it is important that you know the rules and responsibilities. Please make sure you read through the thread and understand them. If you have any questions, feel free to ask any forum moderator to help.
---
2: Meet necessary criteria.
Artists must be a member of the forums for a minimum of 1 (one) month and have a minimum of 50 (fifty) post count. This ensures all ART artists will be active from the beginning.
---
3: PM your request to the forum moderators.
At this point, you will PM your shop to either [smod]CMP[/smod] or [mod]safariblade[/mod] and wait for a forum moderator to either add it to the thread or deny your request. It is important that your proposed post contained all of the rules, list of services offered, request forms, examples, etc. -- we will be copying and pasting your PM to the ART, so make sure it looks spiffy!
---
4: Wait patiently.
Check the ART for a forum moderator to approve or deny your PM'd request. The waiting time can be anywhere from a minute to as long as a day. Please try to be patient during this time -- do not contact a moderator unless a day or more has passed. After the post is either approved or denied, it will be visible to all members and you can continue business as usual.
---
5: Your Shop has been Approved/Disapproved.
If your shop has been approved, congrats! From there on, run your shop as usual while following the rules of the forum. Remember, members will be sending requests through PM now, so it is important to keep some space in your inbox clear.
If your shop was unapproved, you will receive a PM or reply in your thread from one of the forum moderators explaining why this thread was unapproved.
If your shop is not approved, do not complain. The forum staff reserves the right to approve/disapprove any shop at any time. You may be warned if you make a big deal about your shop thread being unapproved.
Conclusion
Thanks for reading! If you have any questions, feel free to PM [smod]CMP[/smod] or [mod]safariblade[/mod] for more details. We hope that these rules provide a clear, easy to read set of rules and guidelines that will ensure a clean, healthy thread in which to create and request artwork, and further the artistic community of PokéBeach.
